Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and Josh Hawley are Traitors

black.png

I had the night to sleep on the madness I witnessed yesterday, and I still woke up angry today. I also did not sleep that well because of the anger I was feeling. I watched the news for about five hours, give or take, and I never watch the news. I was glued into CNN all night. I know that CNN is very liberal, but so am I, and when I do watch news, that is the channel I choose. Going through the late afternoon, into the evening and into the late night, I found myself getting more and more agitated. I just kept thinking about what happened, how it happened and how it was stoked by the sitting "president".

This is not okay. This is not normal. Far, far from it. I thought sleeping on it would help, and while it was nice to get a little rest, as I said, I was, and still am, very angry, for many different reasons. First off, Trump is a terrorist. He is a cultist. He wanted this to happen. According to some reporting, he was "giddy" when he saw these terrorists attack the capitol. He is unwell. He is unstable. He has been unfit to run this country since he took office, and it came to the worst possible conclusion we could have imagined yesterday. To see him say what he said, to not act on it, to put out that absolute embarrassment of a video, filled with lie after lie, to not want to deploy the National Guard, and then to egg on senators to still object, the man is mentally ill.

Trump must be removed. This is not okay. Something needs to happen. I am scared of what he might do in the next 13 days. Who knows. He may seem "stable" today, but who knows how his mood may shift this evening. I do not feel safe as an American with him being the president. It is terrifying.

While Trump deserves pretty much all of the blame, there is plenty more to go around. First off, the people that enabled him for four years, who let him fan the flames of hatred, let him spew his rhetoric, they could have stepped up so much sooner and stopped him. They could have said something. They could have told him to stop. They could have forced him out. They didn't, and we were left with what happened yesterday. This is a man who surrounds himself with yes men and women, who also happen to be racist. Remember this summer when Black Lives Matter were peacefully protesting in DC? Do you remember that they were tear gassed? I sure do. Where was that last night? Why did some of the police involved seemingly invite these domestic terrorists into the Capitol building? Why wasn't the National Guard called in sooner? This could have been avoided. But Trump and his cronies did not act, just like they have not acted on anything or anyone that disagrees with them for four years.

I do want to single out two senators, that even after what happened yesterday, still had the nerve, the gall, to object to states electoral votes. Ted Cruz is, and always will be, an utter scumbag. He started these shenanigans yesterday when he objected to Arizona. He himself said he knew it wasn't going to change the outcome, but he did it anyway. This was clearly a selfish move on his behalf, done in haste because he wants to run for president in 2024, and he wants those terrorists from yesterday, he wants their votes. What a slimy, disgusting and embarrassing human being. He deserves just as much blame as Trump.

Yet Cruz was outdone by the one senator who really deserves to be dragged, to be called out, and quite frankly, should be removed from his post, is Josh Hawley. He was egging on these terrorists before the insanity. There are photos everywhere of him cheering along with these terrorists. Then he disappeared when the madness started, but still found it important to object to Pennsylvania's electoral votes.

Who the hell does Hawley think he is? What kind of privileged asshole does something like this? What was he thinking, after seeing what happened, to still object to Pennsylvania? And, like the coward, and punk he is, he objected, but ceded his speaking time. That is one of the biggest punk moves I have ever witnessed. He wanted to object, but he refused to speak. What a coward. What a sheep. What a yes man. Hawley has blood on his hands. He is just as responsible for the deaths of the four terrorists yesterday as Trump is. His actions prior to the attack and after are despicable. He is the worst of the worst. I despise that he is a senator from the state that I preside in. I am embarrassed that people voted for him, and that some still support him. His actions, to still object to Pennsylvania, when people like Kelly Loeffler and Lindsay Graham and Lankford, and almost all the other republican senators that decided to back off after the attack, are appalling, scary, disgusting and messed up. Hawley is clearly an egomaniac, a psychopath and a narcissist. He only cares about himself and his political career. He is a scary person, and I sure as hell am going to do all I can to get his punkass out of his senate seat. I don't know what I can do, but I will find ways to have him removed from office, or have him tried in court. He is a monster. He is equally responsible for the attack on our democracy and our country by these domestic terrorists yesterday. He is a shameful human being.

I will never, ever forget yesterday. This is forever burned in my brain as one of the worst days in American history. It is clear that Trump, Cruz and Hawley could care less about anyone other than themselves. I hope they know karma is real, and their actions yesterday will forever haunt them. We need Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in office ASAP. I know January 20th is Inauguration Day, but I would like them in office sooner than that. With both Democrats winning their runoffs in Georgia yesterday, the sooner we get Biden and Harris in office, the sooner we can start to heal.

January 6th is a day that will live in infamy, and I will never forget, or forgive, those who stood by and did nothing. We need people in positions of power, Biden and Harris, who will do their jobs, and do them exceptionally. We need to recover from this mess. But we also need to always remember what we saw, and how it made the majority of us feel. It is more than time for the Biden/Harris staff to get to work. Hopefully they will sooner rather than later.

This Needs to End

black.png

I was going to write about Devonta Smith today, but that will have to wait for tomorrow.

I, like many others, have been waiting for this day. Today is the day that Congress is supposed to certify Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' victory in November. I have been staying away from politics because it is a trigger for me. I am a super liberal, and all the legal nonsense, and infighting and refusal to concede has just made me more anxious by the day. I have ways of thwarting all the anxiety, and that has worked. Then one of my own state's senators, a man I truly despise, Josh Hawley, said he was going to object to certify. This is wrong, it is selfish, it was all about himself and he knows that it will not work. Then something like twelve other senators decided they would join the house republicans in objecting. Again, this is a futile attempt, and the people doing this are only doing it to further their own political careers. They know Biden and Harris won, but they want that crazy far right vote. They are playing to their base, and that is wrong. But all politics is dirty and gross and shady.

What just happened, what I just read when I went to check on how the session was going, is one of the most disturbing and upsetting things I have ever read. Apparently some of these far right protesters, egged on earlier in the day by this century's Hitler, Donald Trump, stormed the capitol, threatened violence and they had to suspend the count to get the people inside to safety. What we are witnessing now, what we are all seeing is an attempted coup. It shouldn't have come to this. It didn't have to come to this. This is supposed to be a quiet day where congress gets the job done quickly, and people are able to go back to their everyday lives. But not today. Because Trump, and all of his enablers that have fed into his hysteria, we are now in a situation that no one, and I mean no one, wants. This is a nightmare. This is a disaster. This was the worst possible outcome of the day. The election is over. Biden won. He won both the popular vote and the electoral vote. But Trump, and his insane lawyers, have tried to deny all the way, and now we have ended up with what happened today.

Is this the new Republican party? Do they invite coups? Do they feel good about all of this? Are they happy with where we are right now because they didn't get their way? Why the challenge to the election when they were on the same ballot? None of this, and I mean NONE, makes any sense. My children have more sense and respect than this, and they are eight and five. What am I supposed to tell them today about our country? What have we become? To the people that voted for this four years ago, are you happy today? Is this the country you wanted? Is this the look you were going for in 2016? Gosh I hope not.

This is a day that is going to go down in history as one of the worst ever. My kids will read about this in history books. I will remember exactly where I was 20, 30 and 40 years from now on January 6th 2021. To all the republicans that decided to contest the election, this is on you. I hope you are proud of yourselves. And to Trump, and his baseless, phony goons, this is all of your fault. You are a disgrace. You will be remembered only as a monster, a nuisance and a national nightmare. Your "legacy" is forever tarnished by your actions. Anything he says and does now, it is all moot because of his actions today, and for the past two months, and in fact, for all of his life. People are in danger. People from his own party, and people who supported him, are in danger because of him, and the dozen or so senators, and hundreds of house republicans, who thought contesting this election, named the most secure in history, are in this mess because of him. The US is the "shithole" country, and it is because of Trump and his enablers. This is horrible, it will go down as a horrible day in history and it will take a long, long time to recover from this as a country. I would hope that Trump is removed from office today, and then thrown in jail. That seems like the only fair punishment for what he has wrought. We need Biden and Harris in power ASAP because we cannot allow this to happen. We are supposed to be the greatest country in the world, but today, we are the worst. I am scared and I am disappointed.

What a tragic day, and a day that will go down in infamy.

Saturday Was a Very Good Day

flag.jpg

This is a blog I have been waiting, and hoping, to write for four years now. And I know that the current "president" is trying to throw a fit, act like a petulant child, claim there has been fraud, is firing people for no reason, not signing documents and not conceding, but Joe Biden has won the 2020 presidential election. He, and Kamala Harris are the president and vice president elect, and on January 20th, they will be in the White House.

I am very proud, and relieved. I have been on pins and needles for over a week now. I was very, very nervous about the outcome. Even when Biden gained ground, and then took the lead in Pennsylvania and Georgia, I was still very nervous. After what happened in 2016, I will always be a bit nervous about election stuff. But it is clear that Biden/Harris have won. Even with the court cases, many of which are being thrown out daily, and many, many people within the GOP telling him to concede, there is no evidence to anything that he and his people are trying to say was wrong. What he is doing is a waste of time, and is going to hurt people every day in the long run. And even with the recounts and everything, Biden/Harris are so far ahead, it really doesn't matter.

With all of that out of the way, I want to tell everyone about my Saturday when I heard the excellent news. I had been checking the news hourly to get updates since election day. I would go to bed each night still scared of the outcome. I would wake up and see where the count was now, and how many votes were left, and do the math in my own head. I was a mess. I woke up, picked my kid up from his friend's house around 10:00am, and sat down to watch Michigan, who started at 11. At around 1030am I got a text from my mom, my brothers were all attached, including RD, and she said, "President Biden", and added three blue hearts. I jumped off my couch, I texted back, "is it real!!!! is it true!!!!". My mom said, "that is what is being reported", and then RD said, "Yes, it is true". I responded with a "Yes!!!!!!", and my brother Seth said, "YES!!!!! Goodbye Mr Cheeto". Which prompted me to text, "Yeah!!!! Hell yeah!!!!". Then my phone started to blow up with texts from my friends who share my political ideals. We were all joyous. I didn't even care what happened in the Michigan game that day, they got blasted by Indiana by the way, because this country had finally gotten some good, decent news in 2020.

This year has been pretty rough. We all know that. So to get some good news, to feel human and normal again, that was nice. I spent the rest of Saturday just kind of floating around. I went for a run and ran one of my fastest 4k's to date. I kept up with my friends via text all day. I felt like I was finally able to breath again. I felt, for the first time in a very, very long time, proud to be an American. Democracy worked. The people made their choice. And I know it is kind of hip to say, "well, 70 million people still voted for that monster". That's true, but 75 million, and counting, voted for Biden and Harris.

That night my folks were over, and we watched the acceptance speech. It was amazing. Watching Kamala Harris speak was a thing of beauty. She is such a good speaker, and her speech was truly amazing. I had both of my kids come into the room to watch with us because this is history. This is something they will talk about forever. This will be in history books and be studied and mentioned until the end of time. And when she said, "I may be the first woman, but I won't be the last", I teared up. I told my daughter, who is only five, that this proves she can truly be whatever she wants to be. This gives me hope. Her speech made me so very, very proud and happy and joyful. It was truly wonderful.

Biden's speech was exactly what I hoped it would be. He was gracious in victory, and then he turned immediately to the issues. He profoundly said that he will be a "president for all the people". He told people that didn't vote for him to not turn away, that he wants to help them too. He made many mentions to political parties, but he always came back to, "we are all Americans". It was exceptional. I was floating all day, and after the speeches, I was on a cloud. It was the first time in weeks, hell years, that I have felt calm and comfort. I know they have a lot of work to do, and it will not be easy. It is going to be quite hard in fact. But, I believe that Biden, and maybe moreso, Harris, are more than up to the task. They have already gotten a COVID taskforce together, they have met and they have plans. They just need that monster currently in the White House to accept the results, and let them get to work.

Saturday was a good day. It was a celebration that was a long time coming. And just like I had hoped, Biden and Harris did just that, and then got to work the very next day. Good job America, we did the right thing. Now let's let them do their job.

We Need New Leadership

white house.jpg

It would feel odd if I didn't finish out this week with some kind of political and social piece. I will get back to the more pop culture stuff next week, but this week has been a historic one. I talked about the boycott, I talked about the shooting of another unarmed black man and I have talked about how this seems to be a moment, or at least the beginning of a moment, in the US.

There is something, hopefully, happening right now. People are fed up. People are sick and tired. People want change. Everyone wants equal rights. The time has come for an uprising, and a removal of racist assholes in positions of power. There has been so much civil unrest since the goblin that resides in the White House took office almost four years ago. It has all been bad. He has emboldened racists and fascists and, quite frankly, mentally unstable people. We are in the midst of a seemingly never ending pandemic. People have seemed to just push that aside. We have unemployment rates as bad as they have ever been. There are so many more problems where we sit today than there were five years ago on the exact same day. The US is a mess. The country is divided. Things are just awful. There are days I do not want to get out of bed because I am fearful for what the day will hold. My kids are currently learning virtually. This is all messed up.

We need to change. We need to get out and vote these monsters out of power. We need to be proactive and tell these monsters that enough is enough. Look, Joe Biden wasn't my first choice either. I am a dyed in the wool Democrat. I will always vote blue. But I was on the Beto train at first, then I jumped on the Warren train and then I was all in for Bernie. They didn't get the nomination, and I know that frustrates a lot of people who don't follow one particular political party. And, as I said, Biden wasn't even in my top five of choices. But then he picked Kamala Harris as his running mate, and I have watched him and her speak, and I am ready to run through the wall to vote for them. Change takes time. The country is going to be a two party system no matter what we do at the moment. So, I implore people to vote for Biden and Harris, even if they weren't your tenth choice. As my wife said the other day, "this is truly an election where we pick the lesser of two evils". I couldn't agree more. Go out and vote to get Biden and Harris in the White House. They will, at the very least, level things out. And during their time in office, the people who want there to be more than two political parties, go out and pound the pavement and do all you can to make this more than a two party system. But now, or in November at least, we need to do the right thing. We need Biden and Harris to win. We need them in the office.

I cannot imagine how much worse the next four years could be if the people currently in office stay there. They have shown no signs that they believe in science, that they care about anyone other than themselves, that they care about people that don't look like them, that they have a soul, it is all very, very frightening. I am truly scared what the US will look like if we get four more years of this nonsense. I don't know that it will ever be the same, but Biden and Harris have shown that they listen to scientists. They have talked about mandating masks throughout the country. They both clearly have empathy and souls and are willing to talk and, more importantly, listen to people of other races. We need to go out in record numbers and vote these monsters out. We need to show them that they cannot, will not, steal another election from the people. I'm sick of them acting like the CoronaVirus is gone. I'm sick of them claiming that people are safe. We are as far from safe as we have ever been, at least in my lifetime. And I'm sick of all the other lies and hatred and rhetoric and fear mongering that these scumbags have perpetuated over these last four years.

It is time to lead. Let's keep with this momentum. Let's continue to stick with one another and demand change. Let's get all the criminals out of the White House that are there right now. Please, I implore and beg you, vote in November. And if you are on the fence, or upset that it wasn't your pick, just take a look at where we are as a country right now and think about if you want four more years of this. Your vote is your vote, I just hope it is used for the right reasons this time. Please, please let's make some changes.

Some Thoughts on Vice Presidential Nominee Kamala Harris

file0001721418248.jpg

Joe Biden selected Kamala Harris to be his running mate in the 2020 presidential election. I have a few brief thoughts.

Thought #1 - This is awesome. I love the history making of the pick, the first women of color to be at the top of the ticket. I love the competency of the pick, Kamala Harris has the record and skill set to be the Vice President. I love the bravery of the pick, Trump and his minions were already planning on using Harris’s statements against Joe Biden during the Democratic Party primary debates, now she can directly answer their attacks.

Thought #2 - Who cares what Fox News and the right wing media machine thinks. The fact is no matter who Biden picked, they were going to attack. Trump is in the running for being the worst President in US history. He is a conspiracy theory peddling, angry, mean old man. There is no joy to Trump. The only thing his GOP media enablers have in their arsenal is the ability to attack people personally. I love that Kamala Harris will bring out the worst in the Trump backers. America can see the hate this group has for others.

Thought #3 - This only matters if you get out and vote. Trump is not popular, but he is powerful. He is also craven. It is obvious that the GOP is doing everything they can to delegitimize the 2020 election. Losers can only win through cheating, and the GOP is led by losers. Trump and his backers are not patriots, they do not believe in the Constitution. Like Trump, the GOP is filled with con-men and con-women. They will do everything. including a bunch of illegal stuff, to stay in power. Take their power away and make damn well sure you vote on, or before, November 3rd.

It is now time to get to work.

Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States. I like the sound of that.

The Day After: Democratic National Convention Edition

The halls are empty, beware your front door

History has been made. Hillary Clinton is like the 40th woman to ever run for President of the United States. She follows in the grand footsteps of Victoria Woodhall, Lenora Fulani, and Roseanne Barr. I know about all of these other women because my Republican leaning friends on social media want everyone to know that Hillary is not making history. Republicans need to find anything that will take the spotlight away from the Democratic party. Plus, they have been playing the hate Hillary Clinton game for over two decades. Sorry to say, but all the Republican apologists out there are wrong. Hillary Clinton is the first women to ever be the nominee for President by a major political party. The former First Lady, US Senator, and Secretary of State is the first women ever who has a chance at actually winning the election. The Republican voter can continue to try and deny progress. The fact is that history was made in Philadelphia this week. A woman has a legitimate chance of becoming President of the United States.

Once the unpleasant affair with Debbie Wasserman Schultz was swept away, he 2016 Democratic National Convention was everything the Republican National Convention was not. The star power was real, and not filled with c listers from 30 years ago. The speakers talked about the growth and greatness of America. The candidate was not a suprise usurper, but someone who has been working to this moment for almost a decade. The defeated rival gave a full endorsement to the nominee. The four days in Philadelphia saw the Democratic Party celebrating their recent past, and getting ready to create a new future.

The speakers of the 2016 Democratic National Convention were the exact opposite of what was seen in Cleveland and the best of the GOP. It is clear that the Democratic Party is currently blessed with a group of great orators. Former President Bill Clinton can give a speech to thousands of people, and make each every one of those people feel like Bill is talking only to them. Current President Obama can build excitement like no other politician. Vice Presidential nominee Tim Kaine did his duty by attacking the bluster of Donald Trump. Vice President Joe Biden talked of personal tragedy, and the need to be a servant to the people. First Lady Michelle Obama used her place in history to talk about the evolution of American society. Khizr Khan, whose son died in Iraq protecting his squad, showed the backward looking GOP what being a 21st century American is all about. It was the best speech of either convention.

Late last night, Hillary Clinton walked out to engrave her name into the history books. Dressed in a white pantsuit, a clothing style owned by former Secretary of State, she took the stage and gave the most important speech of her career. Last week I showed dissapointment in the overly long, and incredibly gloomy Donald Trump speech, Clinton exceeded expectations with her address. I was worried that she could not deliver on the same level as all the other DNC speakers. Clinton is not known for giving many speeches in public. Yet for nearly an hour, Hillary Clinton laid out her plan, and knocked down her opponent. The GOP's nominee used hate and fear. Clinton used the words of Ronald Reagan and FDR. Trump said America was failing. Clinton said our greatness is still growing. The thing I kept thinking is that if this was a high school student council election, Clinton is the candidate that actual cares about student government, and Trump just calls out the football team (San Dimas high school football RULES). The goody goody always wins the election over the meathead.

The dark cloud hanging over the Democratic National Convention was that of the Bernie Sanders supporters. After Ted Cruz used is time to not endorse his party'e nominee last week, many feared the Vermont Senator would do the same thing. Sanders enthusiastically endorsed Clinton, even to the misguided boos of his supporters. As the week went on, anytime someone referenced Sanders, the tv cameras would cut to the runner up looking quite disgruntled. The inept media kept trying to make it look like the Democratic Party was fracturing, and unity was not going to happen. Outside of a few ego filled protesters chanting during big speeches, the Sanders revolution fizzled like the Never Trumpers. In order to have a story, the press need a split party, like that of the GOP. Poor Fox News, and even venerable PBS, could never get that fight going. Lord did they try.

The long grueling primary season is officially at an end. Trump v Clinton: Dawn of an Ugly Presidential Race is now upon us. Battleground states will be terrific, until their not. The endless narrative of the Clinton scandals will occupy our television sets. The only thing I know at the end of July is that Trump will somehow make America great again, and Hillary Clinton will try to be the liberal icon Democrats have been waiting for since Mario Cuomo. Oh I also learned that the White House was built by some well fed slaves. Thanks Bill O'Reilly, your idiocy is the thing that never changes with each Presidential Election.

The Next Supreme Court Justice Should Be Named Obama

Welcome home Mr. President

Welcome home Mr. President

With the passing of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, the time has come for President Barack Obama to make his third selection for the highest court in the land. Those Republicans who want to block the President's constitutional duty must not be as true to the US Constitution as they claim to be. If you are truly a "strict constructionist" then you can not believe politics takes precedent over the founding document. Maybe these so called "Constitution Conservatives" are really just a bunch of partisan hacks. The GOP Presidential field, and the elected republicans in D.C., really seem to think that the Constitution is not that valuable in governing the nation. It seems that they are all unfit to represent the people since there is no guiding document of law that the GOP believes in. We deserve people who believe in the Constitution to lead our government. The Republican Party has once again put their personal partisan politics ahead of settled law.

Antonin Scalia served on the US Supreme Court for nearly three decades. He was instrumental in giving voice to modern conservative philosophy. He was also instrumental in being the voice of exclusion to many US citizens. He did not want the US to confront climate change because he was not a scientist. He used antiquated, and hateful, religious views to deny rights to gays and lesbians. He believed that high money donors had more right in swaying political elections than people who were not quite as wealthy. He, along with four other Supreme Court Justices, stopped a legally mandated recount in the state of Florida during the 2000 Presidential Election. There was no legal, or constitutional, reason to stop the recount, yet Antonin Scalia felt like his personal political views took precedent over the law of the land. If you look at the Bush v. Gore decision, Justice Scalia and the majority say that their decision can not be used as precedent for any future similar cases. It is obvious that the conservatives on the court wanted to Bush to win, even if he had not. Antonin Scalia was  the voice of the Supreme Court for an ideology that is living in the past. This is a philosophy that is doomed to be on the wrong side of history. The views Antonin Scalia brought the the US Supreme Court will be judged in the same ways the views of Henry Billings Brown (Plessy v. Ferguson) and Roger B Taney (Dred Scott v. Sandford). They will be judged poorly.

With the death of any high profile figure the media and public at large want to wait in passing judgement on that person's life. That is moronic. When someone like an Antonin Scalia passes, his work should be on display. It is naive, and insulting, to try and forget what harm Justice Scalia has brought to many Americans. We should never sweep under the rug the vile decisions of any person, much less a public figure. We need to remember but we do not need to dwell that long on the unfortunate tenure of Antonin Scalia, we need to look towards the future. The thing we should be focusing on is who will be the new justice of the US Supreme Court. That person should be named Obama.

First Lady Michelle Obama is an accomplished attorney. She has all the academic credentials the US Senate looks for in a Supreme Court nominee. She has a long paper trail and was a very successful lawyer before moving to the White House. Michelle Obama has a bright mind, and quick wit. She would be a huge asset to the high court. The problem is that the partisan hacks in the US Senate would lose their minds in trying to tear down a woman who is vastly more qualified than they are. No person deserves the vitriol, misogyny and racism that would be hurled at the First Lady by the Senate and the national media. She does not deserve the hassle. Someone else in her house is more than ready to take these anti-constitutionalists head on.

While Michelle Obama would be the best choice to fill the Supreme Court vacancy, there is another White House resident who could truly make history by being appointed to the high court. President Barack Obama has the resume to be the next justice of the United States Supreme Court. He is a constitutional scholar, former Illinois State Senator, US Senator, and two term President. He has the education, experience, and thirst to serve his country. Never before in the history of the United States have we had the opportunity to fill a Supreme Court vacancy with someone so qualified. The American voters have twice elected Obama by  large margins. The public will and the resume makes is a no-brainer that President Obama should be the next Associate Justice.

There is the issue of President Obama being the sitting President. Could he actually nominate himself? The easy fix is for Obama to step down from the Presidency and let Vice President Joe Biden take the office for the remainder of the term. It would be a great way to honor Joe Biden for all of his decades of public service. The new President Biden could then nominate former President Barack Obama. Easy fix.

Now the US Senate would have their nomination, and the confirmation process can begin. We all know that having Barack Obama in front of a Republican dominated senate would not be an easy confirmation process. The obstructionists in the Senate would use the hearings to try and legislate the entire Obama Presidency. It would be a huge and pointless circus. There would be a zero percent chance that a vote would be taken on Obama's nomination within the year. The timing should not matter because the Senate Republicans have already said they are going to disregard their Constitutional mandate and will not allow a Supreme Court nominee a confirmation vote until a new president is inaugurated.

Why not let Obama go through the hearings with no hope of confirmation this year? Because this will absolutely destroy any Republican effort to take the White House and will severely hurt their down ticket races. The public will get a full view of the fringes in the GOP, and how they control the entire party. The Presidential field will be consumed by the confirmation process. President Obama is still way more popular than any national Republican figure. The attacks coming from the Senate, Fox News, Right Wing radio, and the GOP Presidential hopefuls will drive many voters away. The Democratic party can use the obstruction of the Republicans as further proof of the party who currently controls congress can not govern at all. Once the election is over, and the Republican have suffered their losses, the next President can go ahead and resubmit Barack Obama as a nominee for the Supreme Court. The next President will be a Democrat after the lunacy the country will see from a Republican party who spits on the true intentions of the US Constitution. It will be a cake walk for the Democratic party.

The passing of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was quite a shock, and a great loss for his family and supporters. The loss of the strongest conservative on the high court is a huge advantage to the Democratic Party. The President has the Constitutional duty to appoint a replacement. The Senate has a constitutional duty to vet and confirm this nominee. The first family has two members who could fill this vacancy magnificently. The GOP will continue to disrespect the US Constitution in order to serve an outdated political philosophy no matter who gets nominated. Barack Obama could once and for all fully expose the Republican Party hypocrisy by being put forward as the next Justice of the US Supreme Court. He would once again make history, and help the Democratic Parties electoral chances in 2016 more than he has in the previous eight years. It will be one of the biggest political fights in US history. Let Obama use his skill to once again frustrate and annoy the GOP. It is going to be epic.
