It Is a Good Day to Be a Green Bay Packers Fan

The Green Bay Packers went into Dallas yesterday and won. The Packers are the youngest team in the playoffs. They have guys that have little to no experience in high pressure games. I expected them to win no more than seven games at best. I thought they may be looking for a new head coach at this point. I was out, a bunch of other people were out and I was kind of ready for a rebuilding season.

They went the other way though. They eeked out nine wins and secured a playoff spot on the last day of the season. I was stoked that they scraped together some ugly wins and finagled their way into the playoffs. But I assumed it was over there. I was talking to a brother of mine earlier in the week saying that I thought they had a minor shot to beat the Cowboys, but the both of us concluded they were not going to win. They proved us both wrong.

This win was so gratifying for two main reasons to me personally. First, they beat the Cowboys. This is the self proclaimed "America's Team". They had all the momentum in the world. They had home field and they were on a winning streak. They got to face the Packers. And Green Bay went in there and scored 48 points. Against the supposed vaunted Cowboys defense. Sure, one of the scores was a pick 6, but that still means the Packers offense scored 41 points. That is amazing to me considering the players. Jordan Love far exceeded my expectations this season. He was more than capable. He never really floundered all season long. He kept a level head and managed to do some solid things as an NFL starting QB. Aaron Jones was seemingly hurt all year but has come out very strong in the past four games. He was especially great yesterday. He had three tds and looked like a man possessed. It was awesome to see him playing so well. The receivers, a young group with no star player, came on strong and have been pretty reliable. They have taken some chances in the later rounds of the draft, and it looks to be paying off. The defense, which has been a bit of a problem, came to play yesterday. The run defense was good. The run defense has been good all year, but they took it up a notch. The pass defense, the clear problem area, was pretty on point for the majority of the day. They gave up a few garbage, pointless tds yesterday, but when it mattered most, they were up to the task. This was satisfying. I love it because not a ton of people are talking about the win, but they are talking about what went wrong for the Cowboys. This is great being a Packers fan because they can still fly under the radar, but the Cowboys continue to get lambasted everywhere. It is gratifying.

Second, the win also makes me even happier that they moved on from that insane clown Aaron Rodgers. He was looked at as the only reason the Packers did anything for the past decade. He was the "glue guy" whenever the Packers had a good season. And when he asked out, and was traded, everyone, and I mean everyone, figured this was it for Green Bay. Hell, even I have said, many, many times, that the Packers were due for a rebuild, and this season would be the perfect time. But look where we are now. Aaron Rodgers gets hurt four plays into the regular season and has gone on to do insane things all year long. He has promoted his conspiracy theories and anti-vax nonsense any time he is on ESPN. He goes on wild rants about "woke culture" and "cancel culture". He vomits diarrhea from his mouth any chance he can, and almost everyone is starting to see how nuts he truly is. And what is Green Bay doing? They are winning playoff games behind a quiet, young good QB. They have a solid o line. The run game is stout. The defense is playing better. And Matt LaFluer is proving to everyone, myself included, that he is a good, viable NFL head coach. It makes me so, so happy that they moved on from that wacko and the results on the field are all the same.

Yesterday was a very good day to be a Packers fan. I hope it continues throughout the playoffs, but if it doesn't, and their season ends in a week, at least they beat the Cowboys in Dallas. And they did it with Jordan Love. What a great, great day.

Aaron Rodgers is Still an Idiot

Aaron Rodgers has lost his goddamn mind. He has become the epitome of white privilege.

Rodgers goes on the biggest sports network in the country, on one of the biggest and most popular sports programs currently on in the country, and complains about "cancel culture". I loathe the term "cancel culture". That term, to me, is what rich white men use to try and blow off any mistake or outrageous thing they do in the public's eye. They think it is a term they can use to get out of any scenario they don't agree with. And Aaron Rodgers has become the poster child for doing this in his everyday life. He recently went on "The Pat McAfee Show", a horrible show that lets all the people see how far down the rung ESPN has gone to stay relevant, and said that Jimmy Kimmel may have been on Epstein's List. That is such an awful, horrible thing to say, and he has no credible evidence to say such a thing. Kimmel made a joke. That is what he made his money doing. But Rodgers took it at face value and decided he was "going to get even". So he said this awful thing on national tv, and as we all expected, ESPN reprimanded him and Pat McAfee.

The first action they took was an apology. That was about as small a thing they could do, but at least they did something. Even McAfee said it was inappropriate. But, to no one's surprise, Rodgers was back on again, and this is when he went on his insane rant about "cancel culture". He mentioned his anti-vax status, like a true moron. He talked about conspiracy theories, and how some of them have been "proven to be true", like a true psychopath. He talked about how people were coming after him, but he "truly doesn't care", which is contrary to his whole unhinged monologue. And it was just downhill from there.

Aaron Rodgers is a rich, famous athlete. He has made tons of money. He has tons of fans. He has appeared in tv and movies. Some people, not me, still root for this maniac. But this has got to be the beginning of the end for this lunatic. He has no place to complain about anything. He was brought up with no real struggle. He has been a pro seemingly forever. He has been paid handsomely. But he still finds something to be outraged about. He finds something to complain about. He wants the focus to be on him and how downtrodden and tough it is to be Aaron Rodgers. Well, I don't care what he says. I want him to continue to dig himself in bigger holes. I want him to make it harder and harder for people to root for this idiot. I wish he had actually tried to come back from his ACL injury. It would have been absolutely hilarious to me to see his achilles rupture even further. Then maybe he could go on another "darkness retreat" and get himself "immunized".

Aaron Rodgers is a dinosaur. He is a privileged white man that continually tries to find ways to say that he is being chastised from the mainstream media, which I'm surprised he hasn't called it the "lamestream media" yet. Rodgers will not be asked to be back on McAfee's show for some time now. But I would guarantee that when he comes back, he will go on some other insane rant about his time away from the show was due to "cancel culture". What a sad person Aaron Rodgers has become. He is a true crazy person that needs real help from a mental health professional. That may be the only thing that can help him now. But I doubt it.

I am Not Very Pleased with Aaron Rodgers

I want to start this blog off by apologizing to my folks, but I want to say this loudly so that dickhead can hear me, FUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCK Aaron Rodgers.

This dude is becoming more irrelevant by the second. He makes a stink to get traded to the Jets this offseason and gets his way. He wants to be on tv and HBO does "Hard Knocks" with the Jets right as he is being traded. He gets to be on the first Monday night football game of the season and runs out with the flag. He then proceeds to rupture his Achilles four plays in and is out of the season. So long

Not to be outdone, when the Jets played the Chiefs the other night, Rodgers made sure he was on the sideline and even threw a pass, just to get his dumbass face on the tv. But what he did after that game, going on yet another podcast to show how desperate he is, was totally uncalled for and shows how out of touch and pointless he is now. To go on whatever pod he went on, and then call Travis Kelce, "Mr Pfizer", as if that is an insult, and then to dig himself further in a hole, he made claims that his Achilles is healing at a rapid pace.

This dude just needs to stop. He has got to stop opening his mouth because every time he does he says something stupid and makes himself look worse. Rodgers is a grade A moron. He is the worst of the conspiracy theorists and the people who say they are "doing their own research". Why go after Travis Kelce? I don't get it. Is Rodgers trying to upset the Swifties, because that would be an epic mistake on his part. He would get obliterated by her fans. And who cares if Kelce wants to get vaxxed? For one, it is smart and courteous. For two, he is protecting himself and those around him. For three, FUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCK you Aaron Rodgers. Let Travis Kelce live his life man. There is no need for you to go on a podcast and try to make Kelce look bad.

The only people who agree with Aaron Rodgers are dangerous, dumb people. He seems to think he is some kind of deity to these people. And if he is, that is a very frightening thing. Rodgers spews nothing but falsehoods and misinformation. People please, do not listen to the nonsense coming out of his mouth. And then to claim he is healing at some kind of rapid pace, okay dipshit. I'd love to see him come back too soon and blow his achilles out again. I know it may not be the best thing to wish ill will on someone I don't know, but Aaron Rodgers hasn't earned respect. He is a total butthead who thinks he can come back from a horrific injury faster than any human ever? Okay dude. Come back and see what happens when a linebacker comes at your legs. Come back and see what a d lineman who has free reign to wreck you does. Come back and try and make a cut off that injured leg. You may rupture the achilles fully out of your body. Then what kind of nonsense would Aaron Rodgers spew then? What kind of dumb shit would he say on his next podcast appearance? How would he spin it then?

Aaron Rodgers is a crazy person who is dangerous to society. Kids look up to this dude and he goes out and says some wild stuff that they may take as truth. He has got to stop, and unfortunately for him, getting injured badly enough to force him to retire may be what is best. But that won't stop him from going on podcasts, and that may be even worse.

Don't take anything that Aaron Rodgers says seriously at all. He is an idiot who just spews constant nonsense. Aaron Rodgers is a total idiot.

Aaron Rodgers is Finally Out of Green Bay

The Packers finally, mercifully, traded Aaron Rodgers. This was going to happen. We all knew it. Let’s discuss.

I wrote a few weeks back that the Packers should hold out for the best possible offer. But no matter what this was going down. I thought it may stretch into draft night, but that didn't happen. The Packers got a ton of picks, the Jets got the QB they wanted and kept a first round pick this year and everyone can wash their hands of this now. It happened, it is over, Jets fans are excited and Packers fans can move on.

As for the Jets, I think they may be a bit ahead of themselves right now. Rodgers is better than what they have, that is for sure. But he is 40. He is weird. He is a headcase. He thinks he runs the franchise he plays for. He complains about everything and everyone. It is never his fault, it is always on someone else. But he is still a solid QB, the Jets have a decent run game and their defense is elite. But they also play in the same division as the Dolphins and Bills. They are also in the same conference with the Chiefs, Bengals, Ravens and the aforementioned Bills. It is going to be tough. I am not even sure they are a playoff team. They will be better, but the fans may also get sick of Rodgers and his nonsense very, very fast. Also, I cannot wait for his dumbass to say something wild and watch the media in New York roast him. His response will be hilarious and interesting.

The Packers can finally go with Jordan Love. I have been saying they should do that for the past couple of years. I have been ready to move on for a while. I have been saying that I was ready for this team to see what they have with Love and figure out if they need to do something else or move on.

I am also happy to say to people that I am a Packers fan again. It felt dirty the past couple of years. When Rodgers showed his true colors I was turned off. He was being lionized by some in the media and that bummed me out too. I cannot stand Pat McAfee, and everytime Rodgers was on his show he would say something wild. And because I follow the Packers I would see headlines about it. I don't have to deal with that anymore. The Jets fans can have that. Look, it got bad enough with Rodgers the past couple of years that I contemplated rooting for a new team. I was thinking of going inter divisional and rooting for the Lions. I was also thinking about skipping out on the NFL all together until playoff time and just being even more focused on college football. I don't have to worry about that stuff anymore. I am oddly excited to see how they look with Jordan Love. I want to see if AJ Dillon and Aaron Jones become a more dynamic backfield. That rookie wideout they had last season who played really well, I like that he is still there. I could see them going with a wideout in the first round this year and building with youth. I'd love that. I also think they could get a QB in the later rounds this year to stash and learn. I also think that Green Bay is a desirable spot because of its history in the league.

This is the first time in a long time that I am pumped to watch the NFL and the Packers. I know, deep down, that they are going to be truly bad, but who cares. Every team goes through a phase like this. The Lions were very moribound. They look very good now. The Vikings won the division last year, but I could see a dip from them. And the Bears have been very bad, but they were a perennial playoff team just a few years ago, and I think they may be on the come up. It is now the Packers turn to have a down year. And who knows, maybe Love is legit and they stay relevant. That would be icing on the cake.

Anyway I'm glad it is over and we can all move on. Rodgers is a dummy and he is now the Jets problem. And Green Bay can really see what they have with Jordan Love. All the teams and fans win. Hooray.

So Long Aaron Rodgers

Being a Packers fan has its ups and downs. Sometimes they will enthrall you and deliver a title, but lately it is a good season ruined by a poor playoff performance. Things are not great.

I have never been a fan of Aaron Rodgers, ask RD, and that has come with a whole new set of problems following this team. Ever since the pandemic I have despised Rodgers even more. He lied about being vaccinated. He has claimed that the "woke mob" is after him. He goes on bs "darkness retreats". I have no problem with hallucinogens, but when Rodgers talks about it it drives me bonkers. And now he has come out and said that he intends to play next season, only he wants to play for the Jets.

That is all well and good. I have wanted the Packers to rid themselves of him for the past few seasons. I want to see what Jordan Love has as a starter. I don't mind if this team is not great for the next few years and piles up draft picks to get better. The rest of the division has gotten much better this off season, albeit on paper, and maybe it is just the Packers turn to be bad. But all of this posturing and whining and stating that he wants to play elsewhere next season, even though he is under contract, I just want this to be done. I want Green Bay to move on. The break up is ready. They need to rid themselves of this 40 year old cancer who showed major decline this past season. I'm done. I'm over it. Time to move on.

I will say, all this talk from Rodgers about where he "expects" to play next season, this has given Green Bay all the leverage. The Jets have made no qualms about wanting Rodgers. They said as much, their current players have been pulling for management to make the trade, other sites are already asking questions if Rodgers is one of the best QB's in the AFC and the market for other free agent QB's has diminished quite a bit. Green Bay doesn't have to do anything. They can sit there and wait for the best deal. If Rodgers says he refuses to play for the Packers, okay, eat his salary and let his punk ass sit. They have other options at QB. They already look to be retooling their offense with some of the moves they have made, or more so, have not made. Allen Lazard is gone. Aaron Jones has restructured his contract. Some O lineman look to be on the move. They are going younger at receiver. And they look like a team that is going to lean on defense for the next couple of years. I'm fine with that and so should the fan base.

If I'm in Green Bay's front office, I am asking for a Matthew Stafford type deal that the Lions got. I want a similar player and a boat load of picks. If they come with Zack Wilson, I'd ask for someone like Breece Hall or Garrett Wilson. So what if the Jets balk? Where else is Rodgers going to go? Who else can come in with a last minute deal that may entice the Packers? The only other team I would even talk to right now would be Baltimore, and that conversation stops instantly if they don't offer Lamar Jackson. Rodgers may think he has leverage, he may think he is playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers, but he screwed himself by revealing the single team he wanted to play for. That squashes almost all other options out there. He has painted himself into a corner, not the Packers. They don't have to make a move unless they are absolutely blown away by what the Jets offer. I would hold out as long as possible. I would wait and wait and wait for the Jets to blink. They have already corronnated this move, yet it hasn't happened yet. I'm sick and tired of this old ass has been, but you better believe I would make him wait and cringe.

The Packers are not the problem here, and they haven't been the problem for a long, long time. I hope when the season starts Rodgers is not there, but I would not do any type of deal unless I am secured for awhile.

Boy Was I Wrong About the 49ers, Broncos, and Packers

The NFL playoffs are set. I will do a preview and prediction, but that will have to wait for tomorrow. Today I want to talk about three teams that I was very, very wrong about in my preseason NFL countdown. I get a good amount of stuff wrong, but I do get some stuff right. I also like to think I know a lot about this sport, but sometimes I am just off. That is the case with these three teams I will discuss today.

First, the San Francisco 49ers. I was way, way too low on this team. I do not like their coach, there are some players I am not very fond of and I thought it would be a big learning curve for Trey Lance. It looked like it may go that way the first couple weeks. The 49ers looked a little lost, they had some offensive woes and Lance went down with a season ending injury early on. They could have folded there but they didn't. They have won ten straight going into the playoffs. Not only did Lance get hurt, so did Jimmy Garroppolo. No worries, Brock Purdy has been very serviceable. But it is this team's defense. They are so, so, so good. They fly all over the field. They hit. They make their opponents feel it. They can stop the run and rush the passer with the best of the best. The 49ers have an offensive minded coach, but this team is led by their defense. And their defense is good enough to drag them to another Super Bowl appearance. I still do not like this team, but I have never been a 49ers fan. Not even when I was a kid. But I was too low on this team. And their defense is very elite. I would be nervous to face them in the playoffs.

San Fran is the only team I was down on that I should have been higher on for this piece today. The next two teams are teams I was way too high on, and in hindsight I should have seen this coming.

The first team that I was too up on is the Denver Broncos. I assumed they were ready to make a leap. They fired a defensive minded coach and hired Nathaniel Hackett, Green Bay's offensive coordinator. They also went out and traded for Russell Wilson. I am not a fan of his, but he is a very good quarterback and has one Super Bowl ring already. The defense is also very good and not too old. The Broncos had the makings of a last to first place team, and to be a threat in the AFC to go to the Super Bowl. Well, Nathaniel Hackett was fired before the season ended. Russell Wilson is having his worst season as a pro and looks like he aged overnight. And the defense spends far too much time on the field and they got exhausted from being overworked. The Broncos were very, very bad. I see that they are interviewing a ton of head coaches, Jim Harbaugh included, who they think can work with Wilson. They have a ton to work on. They have a few pieces, like Jerry Jeudy and Bradley Chubb, but not much else. The Broncos are in need of a big rebuild. I don't know where they're drafting, but they should take a young QB. They need a solid running back. They could use some o line help. The Broncos need a good amount of work. They also happen to play in a very tough division. I could not have been more wrong on this team. I have not watched a ton of NFL this year, but I found a game of theirs last week and watched for a bit. Man were they bad. It was a tough watch. The Broncos are a ways away from being competent again.

Finally, I have my team, the Green Bay Packers. I assumed they would win the NFC North with ease. I did not, and still don't, believe in the Vikings. The Bears ended up having the worst record in the NFL. And I was high on Detroit, but I thought it was going to be a year off before they became a real threat. I just figured the Packers would walk. They had pretty much everyone back and they were a good team last year. This team never gelled. They never meshed. They were never good on either side of the ball. Aaron Rodgers, who I loathe more than anyone in the NFL, was flat out bad this year. He looked disinterested, he blamed everyone but himself and he is an idiot. I found it hard to root for this team this season because I despise Rodgers so very much. He had a bad year. I hope he is gone after this season. I'm done with him as the Packers QB. The offense also seemed to abandon the run far too early. You have two guys in Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon, but the Packers just did not use them enough. It was head scratching. The wideouts have potential, but when Rodgers doesn't work with them and help them out, that is a problem. The defense is a mess. They cannot stop the run, they give up too many big pass plays and they come and go as they please. Jaire Alexander is great, but he needs help. Rashan Gary is a good rush end, but he cannot stay healthy. They have dudes, but they don't have much help. And Matt LaFleur is very blah as a head coach. He is milquetoast. I have no real faith in his play calling ability. And the teams in this division are coming for them. Minnesota is a QB away from being a true contender. Kirk Cousins stinks. For real. The Bears have a great young QB in Justin Fields. They also have the number one pick. They will be back soon. And the Lions are coming. They finished 9-8. They beat Green Bay in Green Bay when they had nothing to play for. They have great pieces on offense. They need a true QB. They also have the makings of a very good defense. The Lions are on a good path. The Packers, on the other hand, stink. They should move on from Rodgers. They should build the offense around Jones and Dillon. Let's move on to the Jordan Love era. The defense has a few guys, they now need some more to help out. The Packers should be bad for a few years, build in the draft and in free agency and wait for 2026 or 2027 to be a threat again. But man was I wrong about them. I feel like I was the most wrong on them.

I was wrong on all three of these teams. They all did the exact opposite of what I thought they would do. It happens sometimes, but this year was so egregious on my end that I had to address it. So, there it is.

The Packers Stink

Before the NFL season started I assumed Green Bay would walk in their division. They have done it every year for the past decade, so I just figured it would be more of the same. I thought the Lions would be better, but not a threat. I predicted the Bears to be one of the worst teams in the NFL, but they have some fight and play hard. And I thought the Vikings would be mediocre, a .500 team at best. It has almost always been this way.

The Packers are bad. They are very, very bad. They have no fight. They are constantly injured. The defense is seemingly always on the field. The special teams are beyond mediocre. The run game is nowhere to be seen. The pass game is even worse. The offense is terrible. And I am here today to put the majority of the blame on Aaron Rodgers.

I loathe this dude. I also loathe the fact that this team is so predicated on how one guy performs. But every week Aaron Rodgers makes some dumbass face or blames someone else or says some nonsense in an interview and it just bums me out.

I cannot believe I am still supporting this team. I do not like the QB or the coach. I only like some defensive players. The team has zero urgency. They have no fight. They cannot put it together at all. They have gotten worse every week. Last week against the Lions they managed 9 points. 9 freaking points. And it is not like they were not in the red zone a bunch. They had, I believe, four trips to the redzone. And, once again, managed only 9 points. Rodgers threw a pick to Aidan Hutchinson. I was stoked to see Hutchinson get a pick, but a defensive lineman picking off a QB that is supposed to be an all timer, that is rough stuff. But it has been like that all year. Even the three wins they have are all low scoring. They have won with defense. The offense is a wreck. I know that Davante Adams left, but he should not have made this much of a difference. He is an incredible receiver, one of the best in the league, but one receiver signing with a different team should not make this much of an impact. They still have Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. They still have solid wideouts like Randall Cobb. They got a solid rookie in Romeo Doubs. They still have the core of their O line. They have a decent tight end room.

I think it all goes back to Rodgers. He threw his fit, lied to everyone about being vaccinated, still got paid and now it is like he doesn't even care. He goes out on the field with his stupid haircuts and makes derpy faces all the time. It is aggravating. I am so ready for the Packers to move on.

I am ready to watch Jordan Love give it a shot. I want them to maybe draft a young QB in this upcoming class. I mean, the Packers are not going anywhere this season. They are 3-7 and it is not going to get any better. Sure, they are ahead of the Lions and tied with the Bears, but those teams play hard. And have players. The Lions are building a defense for the future, and I bet they will address the offense this offseason and in the draft. The Bears have a very good young QB in Justin Fields, they traded for Chase Claypool and they made some moves to get picks. They let Roquan Smith go, but they got picks. They traded a D lineman, but they got picks. They are building. As for the Vikings, screw their QB as well, but they have Justin Jefferson and Dalvin Cook. They still use Adam Thielen quite a bit. They traded for TJ Hockenson. Their defense is as solid as ever. I mean, they would be just fine with Justin Jefferson, but they have building blocks as well.

The only team in the division stuck in neutral, the Packers. This team needs a change and they need it at a lot of levels. They need a new QB. They may need some new coaches. They need to get some more solid wideouts. They need to revamp. They may even need to rebuild. This team is not good and the future looks rough. Time for some changes.

Let's Talk About Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson

Two big time QB's made big decisions on their future yesterday. It is time to discuss.

First I want to talk about that punk Aaron Rodgers. He completely fleeced the Packers. He acted like a malcontent, a whiner, he played awful in their playoff game and he moaned and groaned about "cancel culture" and "the woke media" all season long. He openly lied to the media, he used meaningless words prior to the year, and when he got caught, he went on defense. He never directly answered any questions about his blatant lying, he yelled at anyone that disagreed with him and he acted like a spoiled child. But the Packers gave into his childish behavior and awarded him a humongous extension.

Rodgers is going to sign a four year 200 million dollar deal. This is asinine to me. He is too old, on the wrong side of his prime, not the reason why the Packers are in contention anymore and has handcuffed the future of the team. This is akin to when the Lakers gave Kobe Bryant a big extension when he was old and coming off a torn ACL. While I do not think the Packers will fade as fast as that Lakers team, I do not have a good feeling about this deal for the future of the Packers. But the people who make the decisions in Green Bay gave that malcontent exactly what he wanted in the end.

This is a classic example of a spoiled rotten kid getting his way. I would never buy one of my kids a toy if they acted like Rodgers did at all last season. They would be grounded and told what they did was selfish and wrong. They would have to own up to their mistakes. But Green Bay just rewarded his bad behavior because they are afraid of being a basement dweller for a few seasons.

I really despise this deal. I wish the Packers would have just moved on. I would really like to say I am going to switch allegiances, but I am so far in the bag for this team, so I honestly do not know who I will root for this upcoming NFL season. At least I still have the Wolverines to root for in college football.

Not to be outdone, the Seahawks made a tremendously big trade later in the day after the Packers gave Rodgers his new deal. Seattle traded Russell Wilson to the Broncos for Drew Lock, Noah Fant, Shelby Harris and five draft picks. The Broncos get Wilson and a fourth round pick. Wow.

It was no secret that the Broncos were in the market for an upgrade at the QB position. They were hot on Aaron Rodgers. I heard they were going to trade up in the draft to take a QB. I heard they were going to get involved with some backups on other teams. In the end though, they ended up with Wilson, which is a homerun.

I have made no bones about my dislike for Wilson, but he is a damn good QB. The only reason the Seahawks were relevant after their couple of Super Bowl appearances was the play of Wilson. He was the engine that ran that offense. He had no o line help, and not a very good run game behind him, yet he put up incredible stats, and until last season, had the Seahawks in, or in the hunt for the playoffs every season. He is the type of QB that can truly make a team better by simply being on the roster. He has more than earned his spot among the top five QB's in the NFL. He is very, very good. And I do think he will help the Broncos mightily on the offensive side of the ball. He has some good young weapons on the outside, and a solid running back by committee group in the backfield. The Broncos o line is far superior to anything the Seahawks ever had while Wilson was there. The Broncos also hired Nathinel Hackett, who was the Packers offensive coordinator, and he has a good mind for running a modern NFL offense. Where the trade doesn't help is the Broncos defense. They need to get better on that side of the ball, but their offense is in very capable hands now.

The Seahawks were able to get a fortune for Wilson, and that should help their rebuild go much faster. I was never a believer in Drew Lock, so if I were the Seahawks, I'd use one of those picks on a QB to build around. I do really like the addition of Fant. He is a great pass catching tight end, and putting him next to DK Metcalf will cause matchup nightmares for opponents. I know nothing of the other guy in the trade. But that amount of picks, that is how to rebuild fast in the NFL. The Seahawks have an OKC Thunder amount of picks. They will be able to take a lot of swings, and a good amount of those will mostly hit.

I feel like both teams got a very solid deal in this trade. I think the Broncos immediately become a playoff contender and the Seahawks will be able to keep some continuity and rebuild much faster than other teams. So while I loathe the Rodgers extension, I like the trade between the Seahawks and Broncos.

A Lament of Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers is an idiot. Aaron Rodgers is dangerous. Aaron Rodgers is selfish. Aaron Rodgers cares about no one besides himself. Aaron Rodgers is flat out stupid and I have zero respect for him, of which I already had very little to begin with.

I have never been a fan. I'm not just saying that now, it is true. When the Packers drafted him I threw my hands up and openly groaned. RD called me that day to congratulate my father and I, as we are Packers fans, and we both told him we were upset with the pick. Now, he proved us wrong on the field. The Packers have always been a playoff team with him at QB, but that never stopped my dislike for him. I have never liked his attitude. I do not like watching him in press conferences. He is arrogant and full of himself. He has driven me mad as a Packer fan both on and off the field. Last summer, when he wanted to be traded, I told anyone that would listen that I wanted them to trade him. I wanted Green Bay to start over. I was ready for the Jordan Love era. I was ready for them to be a bottom dweller for a few seasons. I was fed up with Rodgers and his holier than thou attitude over the summer. And even when he came back, and the front office bent to his every wish, I was over it. I did not care about their hot start. It really had little to do with him anyway. The defense is actually much better than they have been in quite some time.

Recently when he returned, and all the COVID rules the NFL put out came out, which I love, he told everyone that he was "immunized". I, along with most everyone else, assumed that meant he was vaccinated. Using the word "immunized" is the same as saying you are vaccinated. "Immunized" means that you are immune, or safe, from a disease. He lied to everyone. I have to assume the Packers front office knew he was not vaccinated, so they are equally as much to blame as Rodgers. But facts are facts. Like I said, Rodgers lied. He is a liar. He is a storyteller. He is a snake oil salesman. He is pitiful and disrespectful. To play in eight games unvaccinated, to go to parties with your teammates unvaccinated, to see friends unvaccinated, too flat out lie to every single reporter, what a total and complete asshole. He was putting so many people in unnecessary danger because he wanted to do what he wanted. If my six or nine year old were to do something similar I would ground them for weeks. Telling such a stupid lie makes me furious as a parent. Rodgers is roughly my age, yet he lies like a child.

And then he had that unhinged interview. He went on a radio show and spewed misinformation. He bad mouthed masks. He claimed to be "allergic" to some of the stuff in the vaccine. He eschewed doctors and said he was talking to Joe Rogan about the disease. He quoted Martin Luther King Jr. Everything about this interview just made him look worse and worse. Why on Earth would any sane person talk to Joe Rogan about anything. That guy is a blowhard. He is a dummy. He is so unimportant. Masks have saved millions of lives. I still wear mine everywhere. It is not a bother. It is super important. The fact that he is taking heart dewormer still baffles me. What a goddamn moron. He is not allergic to anything in the vaccines. He is a coward. And quoting Martin Luther King Jr was wrong on every single level. I saw someone online say that, "white people when they are in trouble really like to use Martin Luther King Jr quotes". Never a truer statement has been made.

Aaron Rodgers stinks. I despise him more than ever. I have had moments where I am questioning if I still want to root for this team anymore. I do know for a fact that I am done with Rodgers. Even when he comes back I will root against him very hard. Aaron Rodgers is a quack, a coward, a blowhard and a dangerous individual. I will never, ever, ever believe another word that comes out of his mouth. Rodgers is a danger to society and I hope he is out of Green Bay very soon. Screw you Aaron Rodgers. I did not like you before, but now, and this is a word I rarely use, I hate you. You are a menace and I wish you would just stop talking. Stop making yourself look stupid.

It's Time for Green Bay to Trade Aaron Rodgers

Before the NFL draft last night a bunch of rumors started to swirl that Aaron Rodgers wanted out of Green Bay.

I am a Packers fan, as you all know, but I am not an Aaron Rodgers fan. My dad, who is also not a fan, can vouch for this. Hell, RD can vouch for this. Just ask him about our conversation the day the Packers drafted him, I was not too happy and neither was my dad. But, he has been great. He won a Super Bowl, and should have gone to more. The Packers have pretty much dominated the NFC North ever since he took over as the starter. He always keeps them in games. He has single handedly won big regular season and playoff games. He is a multiple MVP winner. He is one of the best QB's in the league. I was wrong and RD was right.

The fact is that Rodgers is older, he is becoming more of a head case, he has outside interests that are Hollywood centric and the Packers have gotten the best he has to offer in my opinion. I say trade him for a king's ransom, or just let him waste a year not playing if he is going to demand a trade. I'm all for player empowerment too. Players should have some kind of say in where they play, but not one year after they sign an extension. I feel the same way about the James Harden trade. He gave up on Houston, and no matter how good he has been in Brooklyn, the way he exited Houston will always stay with me. And this isn't like Paul George asking for a trade to the Clippers. He worked with Oklahoma City's front office to make the trade work out for both teams. Aaron Rodgers and James Harden did not, or are not, willing to do that. They both just want out because things aren't the way they want it to be with their teams.

I do agree that the Packers have not made the best choices with Rodgers as the face of their franchise. They drafted a cornerback last night when plenty of wideouts were available. I like the Jordan Love pick last year, but they did that without talking to him. They have no real solid number two receiver behind Davante Adams. And the Matt LaFluer hire is still puzzling to me. But he could have just said no to the extension that they offered last season. He agreed to it and put pen to paper, and now he is unhappy, going so far as to tell some of his teammates he wants out.

This is childish. This is one of the many reasons why I did not want Green Bay to draft him so long ago. Everything has to be about him. He only cares about himself. He wants to be the star. He wants to be the only player that people talk about when they mention the Packers. Basically, Aaron Rodgers is selfish. So, like I said, either trade him to a team of the GM's choice, the team that makes the best offer, or let him waste the rest of his contract stewing about still being in Green Bay. I know he has his "wish list" of teams, but I do not think any of those teams can make a solid offer. Denver has already said they are out. The Raiders have nothing of real value except for a plethora of future picks. And the 49ers, I want nothing to do with Jimmy Garroppollo, and they do not have the picks to make this trade work. Hell, I would go the route that the Spurs did with Kawhi Leonard. Kawhi wanted out and he wanted to go to LA. But the Spurs didn't like either offer from both LA teams. It didn't meet their criteria. Then Toronto came calling, offering DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a solid amount of picks. The Spurs also got to keep all their young talent. Kawhi went to Toronto, won a title and then got to go where he wanted as a free agent. The Spurs, while not the dominant team they were in the early 2000's, are still a headache to play, and they are going to be really good again really soon. That's because they dictated the trade. Green Bay needs to go that route.

Personally, I'd trade him for a goldmine of picks and a really good second receiver. I would also try to land a young defensive stud. I'd go after someone like Devin Bush or Khalil Mack or Aaron Donald or Jamal Adams. Shoot for the stars. See who is willing to give up an emerging star on the defensive side of the ball. Why not? Apparently the 49ers were willing to give up a ton, so why wouldn't some other team. Rodgers is better than Ben Roethlisberger, so wouldn't the Steelers give up Bush and a bunch of future picks for him. The Bears just drafted a QB, but Fields could sit for a year or two behind Rodgers and the Packers could get the best linebacker in football. I know the Rams just traded for Matt Stafford, but Rodgers owns him. So why wouldn't the Rams give up Donald to get an upgrade at QB. And I know the Seahawks current QB isn't happy there, so why not swap QB's and then add on Jamal Adams? That would be ideal in my opinion.

In the end I say let Rodgers go. Go out and get as much as possible for a beleaguered malcontent. Now is their best opportunity. Or just let him sit out and be grumpy. Who cares. Green Bay doesn't owe him a damn thing, and they should treat it that way. No matter what choice they make, I say move him. Bring on the Jordan Love era. Let's do it.

Aaron Rodgers is Not Leaving Green Bay

We are over a week removed from the NFL draft, which was a massive success, one I did not see coming, and my hat is off to everyone involved. That was something that could've had thousands of problems, but they figured it out. Kudos to all involved.

Now, my team, the Packers, did not have a good draft. I could see that, the media saw it, the fans saw it and the talking heads all on Zoom saw it and said it. The picks didn't make a ton of sense. They took guys at positions they didn't really need. They didn't take a receiver, in a loaded class, which was what they needed most. They reached for AJ Dillon, who I like but will be put in a bad situation for him. It was a mess of a draft. And, the big topic on everyone's mind coming from the Packers overall draft was trading up to take QB Jordan Love from Utah State in the first round.

There were a lot of questions about Love leading up to the draft, he didn't have a great final college season, he is raw, he is going to need a good amount of time, he is more of a mobile QB than a pocket guy, just a ton of stuff that people questioned. What those same people didn't question was his talent. He was deemed a first rounder the second mocks started to go up. But, nobody, myself included, had him going to a team with an established, Hall of Fame QB currently on their roster. I think this is the main reason everyone was so up in arms about this pick. The Packers have Aaron Rodgers, and while he wasn't great, for him, last season, he is still one of the best, if not the best, QB currently playing in the NFL. He has all the tools, he has the leadership and he has that will to push his team to wins they shouldn't get. But, Rodgers is also on the wrong side of 30. He has a big contract he signed last year, and while that isn't a big problem, I believe that it goes beyond what Love's rookie contract will be, which is a problem for the future. But, I want to point out some things that I have seen since the draft that have kind of blown me away.

I know as well as anyone that Rodgers is one of the prototype asshole professional athletes. He has a very open feud with his family. His former girlfriends don't have too many nice things to say about him after they split. He is tough on his teammates, and while he is great, he isn't Jordan great. He hasn't earned that right. He ran a coach who won a Super Bowl out of town, although it was time for Mike McCarthy to go. Rodgers has his issues. But, he can still play, and play at a solid level for a few more years, if us Packers fans are lucky. But to see articles being written with headlines like, "Which Team will Rodgers Play for Next Season", or, "Rodgers All but Done in Green Bay", or "Rodgers is not on Board with the Love Pick", it is all so stupid, and we are so lost without sports that people will seemingly write about anything that they hope will get clicks right now. Look, if anyone knows what Jordan Love is going through right now it should be Rodgers. So, instead of moaning and groaning about it, I would hope he would be a good mentor for him. He had to sit three years before he got a shot. Also, does he really want to leave Green Bay? Who would he go play for? I know everyone is all hyped about Tom Brady joining Tampa, but I don't think that is going to work out as great as some others do.

Let's say Rodgers does leave, then where would he go that would fit? People have thrown out the Jets as a possibility. They have a worse receiving corps than Green Bay. Some said Jacksonville if they don't get Trevor Lawrence. Why would he go to a losing team for the twilight of his career? I have heard Washington as a possible spot. Well, they still have Dwayne Haskins, and I still believe they would be better off with Cam Newton. Honestly, every team I look at makes no sense for me. I guess this is my roundabout way of saying I don't think Rodgers is going anywhere. Love is no threat to take his spot, this team was in the NFC title game last year and they have a solid defense and a good run game. Also, I truly believes he wants to finish his career as a lifetime Packer. I just feel that these articles are nonsense, and we are all just bored and missing sports.

Look, I was wrong about Brady, but I don't think it is going to be the seamless transition everyone else does. I would be shocked, more so than I was with Brady, if Rodgers doesn't finish his career in Green Bay. It would be a true sports stunner.

What are the Packers Thinking?

The Packers hired a new head coach. I thought the search would go on a bit longer, but they "jumped" at the chance to hire Tennessee offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur.

I don't really know how I feel about this hire. I have gone back and forth since it was made official on Monday. Even last night when my wife asked me how I felt about it, I couldn't give her a real answer. I talked to my dad about it over coffee today, he is the reason I am a Packers fan, and I feel like we both came to a consensus.

We are not a fan of this hire.

Don't get me wrong, I like that they are trying to get a younger, offensive minded coach, but Matt LaFleur was the best they could do? I mean, what about Mike Munchak or someone from the Rams offensive staff or even a college coach? Why LaFleur? I made it clear a few weeks back, when they fired McCarthy, I wanted them to go after John Harbaugh or Bruce Arians. The Harbaugh thing was a pipe dream. I'm pretty sure he is going to stay in Baltimore, especially with the late choice to start Lamar Jackson. They have something real going on there. And Arians said he was only open to Cleveland, and then, all of the sudden the Buccaneers come from nowhere and he takes that job. It is mind boggling. I will say, I am glad that they stayed off the Josh McDaniels train. He would be just as certain to bail on that job just like he did to the Colts last year. I did not want them to even interview him. And after his comments yesterday, saying that he was staying in New England, it made me even happier that they didn't hire him.

With all that being said, and thought about for 2 days, I am still not on board with LaFleur. Sure, he was the QB coach when Matt Ryan won his MVP award. And yes, he was on the same staff as Sean McVay, and, by all reports, was just as smart as every other coach in the room. But when he was on his own as the OC in Tennessee, he did not do great. It actually looked like the Titans regressed. Marcus Mariota did not get much better. In fact, he was either hurt, or was throwing 6 yard passes. The run game was better, Derrick Henry had a pretty good season, but Green Bay doesn't have a running back on Henry's level. I like Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones, but they aren't even in the top 20 of backs in the league.

Then we have the whole Aaron Rodgers conundrum. He is one of the best QB's in the league, that is not debatable. He can throw anyone open. He makes the pinpoint throws. He has turned marginal guys into production guys. Davante Adams and Donald Driver and Jordy Nelson, while solid receivers, they are not Julio Jones or Calvin Johnson or even Juju Smith Schuster. That is my biggest area of concern with this hire. I feel like the Packers are fine on offense. They had a rougher year than usual, but they are fine, as long as they have Rodgers.

The biggest problem with this team is the defense. That is why I wanted Harbaugh or Arians. They have good offensive minds, but they are defense first. So with the 2 of them out of the picture, why not a guy like Brian Flores or Vic Fangio? I wanted them to go defense with the head coach, and then let that guy hire a solid, young offensive coordinator. They could do the opposite of what the Rams did. They hired a young offensive guru, and then let him hire a great D coordinator to run that unit. The Packers should have done that, but hired a defensive minded head coach and let him go out and hire a young offensive guru. Hell, I would have been happy if they hired Fangio, and he went out and nabbed LaFleur as his OC for the team. But the Packers wanted to do the modernized offense thing, and I feel like this is going to go badly for them. I don't feel like a guy like LaFleur will be able to enter the facility and be taken seriously as a head coach. I feel like Rodgers is going to be that guy, and that is no good. I don't like when a player has to be the leader on the field and in the locker room and the film room. It's too much.

I hope I am wrong and LaFleur is the next Sean McVay, but I don't think that will happen. We will see.

The Mike McCarthy Era is Finally Over in Green Bay

The Packers finally ripped off the band aid and fired Mike McCarthy. This has been about 4 years coming.

The Packers have really failed to adapt to the modern NFL, and a lot of that has to do with McCarthy's coaching. He became even more predictable after the Packers won the Super Bowl. His offense couldn't adapt. He couldn't keep up with the changes to offense. He wouldn't help his star QB out with modern, efficient offense. He refused to change and he paid the ultimate price.

For those of you saying they should have waited the last 4 weeks to do this, why? We all knew this was coming. We all saw the writing on the wall earlier this year when they couldn't beat the Lions. Hell, us Packer fans all saw the writing on the wall the past 4 years with year after year of fumbled playoff appearances. This team should have been better. This team should have gone to more Super Bowl's. This team should have been lethal offensively. This team shouldn't have had to squeeze and sneak into the playoffs year after year. They should have dominated the North. They should have had the division, or at the very least, a wild card spot by week 11 or 12. But that didn't happen.

And before you say that I am a whiny baby, and I should be happy with the one ring and the year after year of playoff appearances, stop. I know that I root for a perennial playoff team. I know they won a Super Bowl. I know they have Aaron Rodgers. But, this team should have been up there with the Patriots, Steelers and, more recently, the Rams. They should have always been in the contender conversation. They shouldn't have had to just barely make the playoffs year after year after year. And most of that has to do with McCarthy.

Before I get into the meat of this though I do want to heap some of the blame on Aaron Rodgers. He has been pretty bad, for him, this season. He is inefficient, hurt and missing receivers more often than normal. He is not as sharp as he has seemed in the past. And it's not like he doesn't have weapons. Davante Adams is a top tier NFL wide out. Aaron Jones is a legit number one back. The O line is stout. Jimmy Graham, while not as dangerous as he once was, is still a red zone threat. Rodgers has weapons and he is under performing. Plain and simple.

Now back to McCarthy. As I said at the top, he just refused to change his ways. The Packers were predictable. He was beginning to lose the locker room and Rodgers. Rodgers would, according to a lot of reports, change plays at his choosing. He didn't listen to McCarthy. That shouldn't happen with a head coach and his star QB. Even worse though, McCarthy seemingly blamed everyone but himself. He let Dom Capers take the blame last season for the porous defense, which needs a massive amount of fixing, but that is another topic for another day. He blamed the front office for not giving him enough game breakers on offense. He blamed his position coaches for the random injuries and poor play of those players. It was never, ever his fault. Well, when you are a 14 point favorite, at home, against probably the second worst team in the NFL, you have no one to blame but yourself for what occurred. The team was anemic on offense. They couldn't move the ball on a team that has given up chunks and chunks of yards all year. They couldn't put the ball in the end zone. They couldn't play in the poor weather that has always worked to their advantage. They looked really, really bad, and I put a lot of that on McCarthy.

To fire him directly after the game, to his surprise as it was reported, was rough, but we all knew this was going to happen. We all saw it coming. It was a foregone conclusion. The time was now for the Packers to make a change. McCarthy had done all he could do, and everyone needed to move on.

As for who I think the Packers should go after as their new head coach, I am kind of torn. The names I have seen pop up most are Josh Mcdaniels, John Defillipo and Lincoln Riley. Of course Jim Harbaugh has come up and there is the interim coach, Joe Philbin, among others. I know the trend is to go towards an offensive minded coach, but after what Mcdaniels did to the Colts last year, I do not want him. Defillipo needs more time before he is the head coach of the Packers. Lincoln Riley is not ready for the pros. Jim Harbaugh, if he is to leave Michigan for this job, will have left Michigan without accomplishing much of anything. And Joe Philbin has already failed spectacularly as a head coach in Miami. I think, right now, even though he has said he isn't interested, I would try and go after Bruce Arians. He would immediately command the respect of the locker room and Aaron Rodgers. And, he is a great coach. If not Arians, I would go for Jim Harbaugh's brother, John Harbaugh. There is no guarantee that he will be let go, or leave Baltimore, but if he did, I feel like he would get the same respect as Arians. Those are my top 2 choices. I'm sure they will go after Mcdaniels, that is the betting favorite. But, I want Arians or John Harbaugh. Hell, at this point, I would even consider a former coach like Gary Kubiak. He would bring instant credibility.

The Mike McCarty era in Green Bay is over. Thank god. That is how I feel about all of this. And, I am sure that McCarthy will get another job and I wish him success. The time had come for a change.

Aaron Rodgers Should be Upset with the Packers

Recently some news came out saying Aaron Rodgers was upset at some of the Packers off-season moves. He has since denied these reports, but it begs the question, should athletes have a say over who their teammates are, and what the GM’s do?

I think, given the player, absolutely they should have a say. LeBron James has made a career for himself by picking and choosing his teammates and coach. And, he must be doing something right because he’s been to 7 straight NBA finals and won 3 of them. When you look at other athletes, I’m sure they have a say in these matters. Kobe Bryant famously didn’t want Shaq on his team, and within a year, Shaq was gone. KD wanted out of OKC and Russell Westbrook, and he was free to sign with whoever he wanted. Michael Jordan, while he may not have gotten along with Scottie Pippen, he knew he needed him on his team to achieve the greatness he did. This is not a new thing, old school players in the NBA knew they needed help, and they took it whenever they could. Hakeem Olajuwon wanted Clyde Drexler. Magic needed Kareem. Isiah Thomas needed Bill Laimbeer and Joe Dumars. I could go on and on with pro basketball stars that picked and chose their teammates.

But, the NBA is the only pro league where it happens regularly. That’s kind of messed up. I know this past off season Giancarlo Stanton picked the Yankees, but I don’t think it was to team up with Aaron Judge. I just think he wanted to play in the biggest market. Ken Griffey Jr only went to Cincinnati because he wanted to go home, and that experiment didn’t work out. Ichiro Suzuki is back in Seattle, but this is the twilight of his career. It usually doesn’t work to team up stars in baseball, unless they’re young. Just ask Albert Pujols, Mike Trout and the Angels. And football, that is a whole other level of coaches and GM’s controlling everything. Players are let go without a second thought. If you stick around for even 5 solid seasons, if you stink in year 6, the team gets rid of you. Just look at Dez Bryant. Even a guy like Tom Brady, possibly the best QB ever, is in a rift with his coach and GM, and every talking head is siding with the coach and GM. That’s crazy talk.

So, I don’t think it’s wrong for Rodgers to be upset. The team got rid of his security blanket receiver when they let Jordy Nelson go. They’ve had no running game since he’s been there. Their defense is subpar at best. I know they signed Jimmy Graham, but aren’t his best days behind him? If you sit down and think about it, the best thing the Packers have done since Rodgers took over is signing Charles Woodson. He helped win them a Super Bowl, but he was a defensive player, the best of all time if you ask me. The Packers have never really given him the threats he needs. Don’t get me wrong, Davante Adams is turning into a great player and Randall Cobb is sufficient. But, outside those 2 guys, who have the Packers brought in to help Rodgers. Also, they have kept Mike McCarthy around far too long. The fact he’s only gone to one Super Bowl with one of the best QB’s in the game right now is appalling.

If Rodgers is upset, let him be upset. He’s earned that right. And for the “journalists” that are bashing him right now, think about all the stuff I just said. I’m a Packers fan and I have no problem with Rodgers letting his frustrations known, if he did. He deserves some help on that roster.

Injuries have Already Rewritten the 2017 Professional and College Football Season

Going to have out give out some new game balls.

We are 2 weeks into the college football season and one week into the NFL season, and my 2 major picks, Heisman and MVP, are both done for the year.

My Heisman pick, Deondre Francois, the QB of FSU, tore his patellar tendon in the opening game of the season against Alabama. This could be a brutal blow to FSU's hopes of the College Football Playoff. Francois was/is one of the tougher QB's in college football. That kid got hit so many times last year as a true freshman, but he always got up. The same thing was happening in the opening game of the season, but late in the third quarter he got crushed, and when he didn't immediately hop up, I knew something was wrong. I'm not an FSU fan by any stretch of the imagination, but to lose your starting QB in the firsts game is pretty crummy. FSU can still rebound, possibly even be a major competitor in the ACC, they have a tremendous defense, but losing Francois will be brutal. I do not know how that offense will look, their second game of the year was cancelled due to Hurricane Irma. But, I imagine it will look a lot like what Clemson and Michigan are doing right now. They are going to try and run as much as possible, pass only when needed and rely on their other worldly defense. It is going to be an uphill battle for FSU, but they still have some decent talent. When you really think about it, relying on Cam Akers is not the end of the world in football terms.

I do have to say, my last 2 Heisman picks have been way off. Two years ago I picked Trevoyne Boykin, and while he had a decent season, he was not even a Heisman finalist. Last year I picked Deshaun Watson, and I still think he should have won, but Lamar Jackson won it last year. A couple weeks back, 2 days after the Francois injury I said that I was going with Derius Guice over Baker Mayfield, so I hope that I do not jinx any chance Guice may have of winning the award.

On to my pick for NFL MVP. I was completely on board with staking my claim to being one of the few people that was picking David Johnson for MVP. He had a breakout year last year, and he was the key to the Cardinals offense. I expected the Cardinals to surprise, possibly fight for a playoff spot and David Johnson was the main reason why. I had the number one overall pick in one of my fantasy football drafts, and like many other people with the number one overall pick I grabbed Johnson without hesitation. I fully bought into the David Johnson hype. He was the second coming, my generation's Marshall Faulk I called him. I bought all the David Johnson stock that I could.

Then week 1 happened. The Cardinals had an early afternoon game on Sunday, and I was at work, so I couldn't watch him play. But, I just assumed that he was going to put up big number against a subpar Lions defense. When I first went to check my numbers on my fantasy app, he had gotten me about 5 points, and it was only in the first quarter. I did the math and figured, at worst, he was going to get me between 15-20 points and that his MVP campaign was off to a great start. I waited about 20 or 30 minutes before I checked the scores again, and much to my shock, his numbers hadn't changed at all, and the game was going into halftime. I thought, no big deal, still on pace for double digit points. Then, as my work day was winding down, I hadn't checked my scores in about an hour at this point, I got a notification from my fantasy app. I heard the noise, stopped what I was doing for a moment and checked out what the update said. The app told me that David Johnson was questionable to return to the game with a wrist injury. My first thought was, oh no, my preseason MVP pick is already hurt. Then I thought about my fantasy team, and knew I was screwed. No good was going to come from this. I got home, watched some more football all day, and any new news on my preseason MVP got worse and worse. People were saying a sprained wrist and that he'd only miss a few weeks. Other people were reporting possible surgery, which would have him missing 6-8 weeks. Some people were saying that he was going to get a second opinion, and that is never, ever a good sign. Basically all news was bad news. 

On Monday morning it was announced that David Johnson was being put on IR, and he was going to miss 2-3 months. Basically the entire season. My preseason MVP and number one overall pick in my fantasy draft was pretty much done for the year. As far as my fantasy team went, this is what happens sometimes. People get hurt and there is nothing I can do. I was upset, but not mad. I was mad about going out on a limb and picking him as the MVP. I expected so much from him, and it was a total bummer when he announced that he needed to get surgery. Not only did it wreck my MVP pick, but it wrecks the Cardinals season. I have no faith in the Cardinals as a playoff team anymore. They have to rely on Carson Palmer, who looks cooked, Larry Fitzgerald, who produces, but is old and they signed Chris Johnson, who hasn't been viable in about 4 years. Their defense is still good, but that offense is going to be a big time problem for them.

I guess I am bad news for any player that I pick to win preseason awards. I picked Cam to repeat as MVP last year, and he got illegally hit and hurt too much last year. Now this happens to David Johnson. I guess, if I have to pick someone else to win the NFL MVP now, I will go with Aaron Rodgers. I hate doing this, since he is the QB of my team, but there is no one else I can think of that is more valuable to his team. Just like with Guice, I hope this doesn't spell doom for Rodgers. We will see what both the college and NFL seasons have for us from here on out, but what a bummer for some big time players for the first 2 weeks. Major injuries are a big time bummer.

The SeedSing 2017 NFL Predictions and Picks

For the past 8 days I have given my 2017 NFL countdown. I have ranked the teams from worst to best, in my opinion. Today I'm going to give my playoff predictions and award winners. I'm also going to throw something new into my predictions. This year, not only will you get my MVP, Coach of the Year, etc., I am also going to throw in a player or coach in the "worst" category. For example, I will give out an LVP, or Least Valuable Player award this year. Same with coach and the other awards I will hand out. And for those of you waiting and asking for my 2017 NCAA football preview, I have a big, enormous piece coming next Monday where I will break down the upcoming college season. I know there are some games this Saturday, but I checked the schedule, and only USF will be mentioned on Monday. So for all my college football fans, come back for that on Monday. Anyway, lets get to who I see in the NFL postseason this upcoming season.

I'll start with the AFC first. The AFC East will be easily won by the Patriots. This is the easiest decision by far of my predictions. They have the best QB, coach, players that fit their system, hell, they will even avoid one of those late season losses to Miami because Jay Cutler will find a way to screw that up. Patriots are the East champs by a million miles. Watch out for the Jets to go 0-16 from this division too. It might happen. Buffalo is going to be really bad too.

Some think the AFC West is a bit harder to choose. Not me. I think the Raiders will win this division going away. They have the best offense by far. The Chiefs will put up a fight because their defense is so stout. Same thing for the Broncos. But, the Chiefs offense will not be able to score with the Raiders and the Broncos are starting Trevor Siemian at QB, enough said. Some people think the Chargers are a "dark horse". Not me. I'd be shocked if they finish at .500. The Raiders will win the West with one of the best offenses in football.

If the Steelers do not win the AFC North something really bad has happened. Either they would lose more than half their offense, or some other ridiculous outcome occurs. They are the best team in this division by far. The Bengals might put up a fight, but I lost faith in that team a long long time ago. Like I said, they are the Clippers of the NFL. They are bound to choke. The Browns may be trotting out either Deshone Kizer, or god help them, Brock Osweiler week 1. They are still in the "rebuilding process". And the Ravens are too old and too reliant on a mediocre QB. The Steelers should be heavy favorites to win the North.

The AFC South is about 2 teams, the Titans and the Texans. I'm ready to jump on the Titans bandwagon. I really like what they are doing in Nashville right now and I think Marcus Mariota is ready to take that next step. But, the Texans have a great defense. That will keep them around all year. But, they will wait too long to put Deshaun Watson in at QB, and that will cost them the division. The Jags and the Colts stink, but for different reasons. The Colts have no one besides Andrew Luck, who is still hurt, and T.Y. Hilton. The Jags have no QB. Both these teams will be lucky to win 5 games.

So that leaves my 4 division champs as follows, the Patriots, Raiders, Steelers and Titans. As far as seeding, Patriots 1, Steelers 2, Raiders 3 and Titans 4. My two Wild Card teams are the Texans as the 5 seed and the Chiefs as the 6th. The AFC title game will come down to the Patriots and the Raiders, I think the Raiders will beat the Steelers in a shootout, and the Patriots will return to the Super Bowl for the 4th time in 5 years. They are just too damn good to be stopped.

As far as the NFC goes, it looks to be a bit more open to some. Not to me. The NFC East will be a battle to 10 wins for the title. All these teams have a shot to win the division. I'd love to pick the Eagles, but I think they are still one, maybe 2 years away from taking over the division. Washington will hang around for awhile, but this is the season where I see all of the chances Kirk Cousins and his agent have taken on himself will backfire and they will finish under .500. So it comes down to the Cowboys and the Giants. The Cowboys may seem like the obvious pick. But, when I went through and did my rankings, I found a lot of holes in this team. They will not be as good as they were on defense last year, and I want to see how Prescott handles being the focal point of the offense. The Giants have a great receiving core, a very good defense and that will be enough to push them to be the division winner. It will come down to the end of the season, but the Giants will find a way.

The NFC West is going to be won by the Seahawks. They may be getting a bit older, and relying way too much on Russell Wilson, but the division is pretty porous and their defense is still top 5. The Rams are a dumpster fire. The 49ers are even worse. The Cardinals could make it interesting, but I have zero faith in Carson Palmer. Seattle will win this weak division once again.

The NFC North will once again go to the Packers. They have the best offense in the division, and their defense will be better. Aaron Rodgers is the most reliable QB in the NFL. The Lions limped their way to the playoffs last year, and that "run" will end this season. Minnesota's horrific offense will waste a year of one of the NFL's best defenses. And the Bears are horrible. Remember, they traded away future picks to move up one spot to draft Mitch Trubisky. Never forget that Bears fans. Packers in the North fairly easily.

The NFC South may be the best division in football now. It used to be one of the worst, but things have changed. The Saints may end up in last place in the division with 8 or 9 wins. The Panthers will bounce back, but Cam Newton's shoulder injury scares me a bit. The Buccaneers are going to be dynamite on offense, and they have a pretty decent, young defense. The Falcons were in the Super Bowl last year, return all of their key players and they signed Dontari Poe to help out their defense. But, will they have the Super Bowl hangover? Will they regret hiring Steve Sarkisian? Time will tell. For now though, I'm going to stick with the Falcons. They are too loaded to screw it up, at least in the division. It may take 12 or 13 wins, but they will win the division. Also, don't be surprised if the Falcons, Bucs and Panthers all have double digit wins. This division is really good.

So, the 4 NFC division winners are as follows, the Giants, Seahawks, Packers and Falcons. As far as seeding, I have the Packers 1, Falcons 2, Seahawks 3 and Giants 4. For my 2 wild cards, I legitimately thought about putting both Bucs and Panthers in there, but ultimately I decided on the Bucs as the 5th seed and the Cardinals as the 6th seed. Maybe I just like the Cardinals, and David Johnson, and I want them to prove me wrong. As far as the NFC winner, I'll take the Packers, with ease I might add, over the Falcons. A little revenge from last year's NFC title game. This time it will be at Lambeau though.  

That would pit the Patriots versus the Packers in Super Bowl 52. I'm going with my guys, the Packers. I love what they can be, if they stay healthy, on offense this year. They have so many options. The game will be close, but Rodgers will lead a game winning drive to get his second ring. Go Pack Go. I hope my faith in them will outweigh whatever terrible decisions Mike McCarthy is bound to make this year.

As far as award winners go, lets jump right to the MVP. Some may think I'd pick Rodgers or Brady with the way I talked about the 2 of them in my countdown. Nope. I'm going to go way out on a limb here and pick David Johnson. Not many running backs win this award, but Johnson is so critical and the Cardinals rely on him so much, I feel like he is going to explode this year. He is so awesome. He is the best modern running back playing right now. He will double his awards this season, also winning Offensive player of the Year. The Defensive Player of the Year will go to Jadaveon Clowney. He is going to have a massive year as well, and soon he will be the face of the Texans defense. No more bull shit from JJ Watt, Clowney is going to be the anchor for that very good defense in Houston. Offensive Rookie of the Year will be Dalvin Cook. He is the only good thing the Vikings have going for them on offense. He will get a ton of carries and touches out of the back field, and he is so explosive, he will make some highlight plays. I wanted to pick Leonard Fournette so bad for this, but he is stuck in a horrible situation in Jacksonville. He may get hurt by week 9 because of such a high usage rate. Defensive Rookie of the Year will be Soloman Thomas. He is on a really bad team in San Francisco, but he is the first step in the right direction. I think he will wreak havoc on opposing back fields. Coach of the Year is going to be Dirk Koetter. The Bucs are going to make that Raiders esque leap from last year, and the voters can't get enough of that stuff. The Super Bowl MVP will be Aaron Rodgers, due to that game winning drive I predicted.

Now, for the awards no one wants to win. The 2017 Jets will go down as one of the worst NFL teams ever, and Christian Hackenberg will be a big, big reason why. He is atrocious. He can't even break huddles properly and his press conference skills are terrible. He may be a worse QB than Blake Bortles. He is your 2017 least valuable player. The biggest reach, which will make this guy the worst offensive rookie is the Bengals taking Joe Mixon. What the hell were they thinking? How long until he gets suspended for hitting a woman? He does not deserve to be playing professional sports. No one should ever put their hands on a woman, ever. This also applies to the worst defensive rookie, Jourdan Lewis. He broke my heart when that story came out that hehit his ex girlfriend. I know the charges were dropped, but the damage had already been done. I'm done rooting for Jourdan Lewis. The worst coach of the year was tough. I feel bad for Todd Bowles because he didn't ask for this from the Jets. Doug Marrone is going to have a rough go in Jacksonville, but he won me over when he said he didn't want the game to be in his QB's hands, and he was going to give Fournette the ball 300 plus times. That was some serious shade thrown at Bortles. No, those guys are in poor situations. The worst coach of the year will be Jason Garrett. Technically, he is usually one of the worst coaches, but that will be magnified this year due to the Elliot suspension. He cannot call a game properly and he is emotionless on the sidelines. Garrett has had more than his shot and he has done absolutely nothing but blow it for that team.

Editor's Thoughts - I have no real disagreement with Ty on the playoff teams. Because I am a pathetic homer, I do think the Bengals will get in the playoffs, and get blown out in the first round again. I am also putting the Vikings in, but they will miss an extra point to lose their Wild Card playoff game. Oakland and Tennessee are on the verge of being great, but the Patriots will find a way (maybe not legal) to win the AFC. The NFC will find some random team to be the underdog to the Patriots in the Super Bowl. I am going with a 9-7 or 10-6 New York Giants team led by Eli Manning and his 30 interceptions.

The Giants will win the game 8-7 after two fourth quarter field goals and a safety in the final seconds. We will live in a world where Eli Manning has three rings.

Ty's 2016 NFL Playoff Predictions

Ready to tee up with the playoffs

The NFL playoffs are set, and I'm here to tell you who I think will walk away as Super Bowl 51 champs. I was obviously wrong in my preseason predictions. The Panthers, and Cam Newton, had an atrocious season. They looked pretty bad all year long. I was way, way off on that one. I was right about the Patriots though. I did not think Brady's suspension was going to affect them that much, and it didn't. They went 3-1 without him and 11-1 with him, giving the Patriots the best overall record in the league at, 14-2. I was off on the Cowboys though. I thought they would not be good, no matter who the starting QB was, but they have a tremendous offensive line, and Ezekial Elliot and Dak Prescott played like seasoned vets all year. Will it happen in the playoffs? We will have to wait and see. With all that being said, lets get to how I see this playoff playing out.

I'll start with the AFC. From 6 to 1, we have Miami, Oakland, Houston, Pittsburgh, Kansas City and New England. Only 2 of these teams, in my opinion, have a legit shot to go to the Super Bowl. The Wild Card matchups in the AFC will be Miami vs Pittsburgh and Oakland vs Houston.

Miami has had an okay season, but they have not beaten anybody all that decent this season. They might have the shadiest 10 wins in all the NFL. They have a good defense, but not great. Their offense, especially with Ryan Tannehill out, who I do not think is that much better than Blake Bortles anyway, is not very good. They have excellent receivers, but with Matt Moore leading the offense, it doesn't matter. Jay Ajayi exploded in the middle of the year, but since then, he has been average. The Steelers, on the other hand, have a lethal offense. Even though he is a horrible, god awful human being, Ben Roesthelisberger can still sling it, and he always gets help from the refs. He has his whole career. LeVeon Bell is one of the best running backs in the league. Antonio Brown is one of the best receivers in the league. The Steelers have a decent offensive line. Where they struggle is defense. They get gashed a lot. But, with Matt Moore being the QB, and Ajayi coming down to Earth, I do not see the Steelers short comings on defense giving the Dolphins a shot in this game. Steelers win this game fairly easily, 28-14.

The other game would have been a blowout, had Derek Carr not broken his leg 2 weeks ago. I still think the Raiders are better, but that was a crushing loss to this team. The Raiders now have to rely on either Connor Cook or Matt McGloin. Yeesh. They still have Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree and Latavius Murray, but no Derek Carr is brutal. Their defense, while Swiss cheese at times, has played better lately. They did not look great yesterday, but they have stepped up since earlier this season. Houston is a laughingstock. They do not belong in the playoffs at all. They are more bogus than the Dolphins, but since they are in such a crappy division, they get to go to the playoffs with only 9 wins. They have no offense, except DeAndre Hopkins. But, he barely sees the ball since both Osweiler and Tom Savage are mediocre. They also have no running game and their defense is a joke. As I said, the Raiders will win, but this game will be ugly. Final score of 13-3.

So that would pit the Steelers vs the Chiefs and the Raiders vs the Patriots. These should be good matchups. I think the Steelers-Chiefs game could be great. I think the Chiefs will pull out the win, but it will be tough. The Chiefs have a better overall team, and their defense is much better than Pittsburgh's. I also think that the Chiefs will be able to hold onto the ball and run at will against the Steelers, thus making the Steelers strength, their offense, moot. Andy Reid will not blow this chance, and he will pull out a hard fought victory, 21-17.

The other game is going to be a bloodbath. The Patriots, after Brady's suspension, are out for blood. They want to destroy anyone in their way so that Roger Goodell has to hand them the Lombardi trophy. Unfortunately for the Raiders, without Derek Carr, they will be the Patriots first victim. Sure, the Patriots do not have the best defense, but it is serviceable, especially against a team without their star QB. And this Patriots offense is surgical. Brady picks apart secondary's. He has made guys like Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola household names. He's doing the same with Chris Hogan and Malcom Mitchell this year. They also seem to have limitless options at running back. They can go with Legarette Blount for power, James White for speed and Dion Lewis for a bit of everything. And even though they lost Gronk to injury, they have Martellus Bennett, and he is awesome, and very tall. The Patriots are ready to beat the shit out of some people. I have the Patriots winning big, 34-10.

That would give us a Chiefs-Patriots AFC Championship. This will be a good game. The Chiefs are the one team in the AFC that can compete with this Patriots team. They have guys that can shut down the Patriots skill players, but they do not have any real game changers, except maybe Tyreek Hill, on offense to score with the Patriots. I think it will be a very good game, maybe even come down to the wire like last year, but Andy Reid will rear his ugly head at some point, and Belichek will capitalize, as he always does. This will be a low scoring, hard fought Patriots win, 20-13. The Patriots will represent the AFC in Super Bowl 51.

As far as the NFC goes, the seeding from 6 to 1 goes, Detroit, New York, Green Bay, Seattle, Atlanta and Dallas. I legitimately feel like almost any one of these teams can make a run to the Super Bowl, and yes, I am including the Lions in the discussion.

The Wild Card matchups will feature the Lions vs the Seahawks and the Giants vs the Packers. The Lions are an enigma. This team had no business even being competitive this season, especially after Calvin Johnson retired. They had no running game. Stafford had never put it all together. The defense is good, but spends too much time on the field. But, somehow they managed to get 9 wins and make the playoffs. The Seahawks have been incredibly inconsistent all year. At times they look like the clear cut favorites, at other times, they look mediocre at best. They have a good defense, but they are not what they were 2 years ago, and they are missing some key pieces. They also do not get pressure like they used to. The offense is very average. Russell Wilson has not taken that next step towards the upper echelon of starting QB's. He may be hurt, but he just does not look like the guy that many thought he would turn out to be after the Seahawks won 2 years ago. I think he is a better version of Colin Kaepernick, but not by much. Their offensive line stinks. They cannot protect the QB, and they do not open up running lanes. They have good receivers, like Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse, but they lost Tyler Lockett to a broken leg, and now they have no deep threat. They have also never really figured out how to use Jimmy Graham. He has become a mid tier tight end since the trade. With that being said, the game is in Seattle, so I do think the Seahawks will win, but it will be a very ugly game, much like the majority of the NFL this year. It will also be very low scoring, with a final of 10-6.

The other matchup, being a Packers fan, is my nightmare. I hate the Giants, and it is because they always seem to pull out some miraculous win, no matter how bad Eli Manning plays, or where the game is played. My only hope this season though, Tom Coughlin is gone, and Bob McAdoo is the coach, and he is as predictable as they come. Green Bay is also on a roll right now. Aaron Rodgers, after his selfish calling out of his teammates, has played lights out. So has Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams. Ty Montgomery has been a revelation. The offensive line is clicking. Hell, even the defense is playing better during their 6 game win streak. I'm always nervous when the Packers have to play the Giants though. I bad mouthed McAdoo, but Mike McCarthy is just as bad, possibly worse at times, but I do think the Packers will pull out the win. They have a better team, with much better skill players(yes, I think the duo of Nelson/Adams is better than Cruz/Beckham Jr), and I think Eli will make a big mistake. I have the Packers winning 28-23.

So that would give us second round matchups of Seattle-Atlanta and Green Bay-Dallas. Atlanta should easily beat the Seahawks. They have a better QB, better receivers, a better line and a better running game. They also do not have the injuries that Seattle has. I think Matt Ryan should be the regular season MVP. He's been great. So has Julio Jones. He has been un guardable at times. He is so tall and so fast and has great hands and runs great routes. The revolving door at running back works for them, and Devonta Freeman is coming on at the right time. Atlanta is a serious threat in the NFC. I have them beating Seattle fairly easily, 24-10. It will be close for a half, but Atlanta will pull away in the second half.

The other side has Green Bay-Dallas. This is supposed to be Dallas' year, right? They have everything going for them. They have home field throughout the playoffs. They have had a dominating year on the offensive side of the ball. They have the best offensive line in all of football. Ezekial Elliot and Dak Prescott are the future. Dez Bryant is playing better without Romo. This is supposed to be the year for them Cowboys, right? I do not know if it is my blind love for the Packers, or what, but I think the Packers will beat them, and I do not think it will even be close. The Cowboys will come out hot, but this is a team led by rookies, and I don't know about you, but I'd much rather have vets like Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson, Julius Peppers, Davante Adams, Clay Matthews, some of which have won a Super Bowl, than rookies leading my team in the playoffs. This is not meant to take away from Dallas' great season, but I think the moment will be a bit too big for them. They have won a lot of games, 13, but some have been very ugly, and I just think their luck is going to run out. Maybe it is my blind love, it totally is, and my hatred for the Cowboys, it is that as well, but I think the Packers will go to Jerry World and win this game. I also think they will win by 2 scores, with a final of 28-17.

So that would give us Atlanta and Green Bay in the NFC Championship. this is where the Packers win streak ends. They have no one that can guard Julio Jones, and Matt Ryan is playing so god damn great right now. This will be a very high scoring game, close to the end, but Atlanta will win, 38-35. This game is going to be filled with offensive fireworks, and Atlanta has the better weapons on offense to do just that.

Super Bowl 51 will pit Atlanta and New England. This is a pretty good matchup, or at least I think so. Both teams have so so defenses, but they each have explosive offenses. The Super Bowl will be very high scoring, but in the end, I think New England puts it away, and Goodell has to hand that trophy over to Belichek and Brady. Atlanta will keep it close for three and a half quarters, but New England, behind Legarette Blount, not Tom Brady, will put this game away in the fourth quarter. I think the Falcons will be so keyed up to stop the Patriots pass game that it will open up the run game for New England. Blount is going to have a big game. He is the best of the three running backs the Patriots use, and they will ride him to a win in the Super Bowl. I expect him to go for over 100 yards and, at least, 2 touchdowns, and win the Super Bowl MVP. Like I said, it will be close for awhile, but New England will put it away early in the fourth, and win 38-28.

The Stink of the Packers is Coming from Aaron Rodgers

This picture seems to come up whenever we talk about the Packers at midseason

Waking up this morning I read a story on Bleacher Report that had Aaron Rodgers saying that he was upset with the Packers sense of urgency, and the way that some of the players conducted themselves after they lost their second straight game, to the Colts, and now stand at 4-4.

Look, I agree that most of that team, my team, has no urgency and they do not seem to care about the outcome of the game. But, with that being said, I think it all falls on their leader, quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The fact that he is blaming everyone except himself is laughable. I watched the majority of that game yesterday, and he looked as aloof and uncaring as anyone on the team. He had no sense of urgency. When they got down 14-3 quick in the first quarter, he approached each play as if the score was tied, or the Packers were winning. He looked very ho hum and kind of disinterested yesterday.

That game wasn't just an outlier, Rodgers has looked that way the entire season so far. He has been the main guy with no sense of urgency. Earlier this year, while playing the Bears, the Packers defense kept doing what they needed to do, getting stops, but the offense, led by Rodgers, would go out there, run 3 stupid plays, and punt the ball. They were even down in the third quarter of that game before the Packers realized that they are much better than the Bears, and they eventually pulled away. But yesterday, earlier this year against the Cowboys and Vikings as well, the Packers have looked mediocre at best. I say again, that goes on the leader of the team, Aaron Rodgers.

I'm a huge Aaron Rodgers fan, but he has looked pretty, for his standards, average this year. People will say the line is the problem, or the receivers aren't getting separation, or they have no running game with Eddie Lacy out. Whatever. All those things have been true for three years now, but this is the worst the Packers have looked in that three year stretch. I don't know if it is Mike McCarthy's play calling, he needs to be fired, if the receivers are really this average, or if Rodgers has just thrown in the towel on this season so he can do more TV appearances and commercials. I'm embarrassed to call myself a Packers fan right now, and it is mainly because of the play from Rodgers. He has been holding onto the ball much too long. The line has been giving him time, but he has taken far too many sacks, or just thrown the ball away too much.

You watch ESPN, and they will chastise the line, not Rodgers. Then, others will say the receivers aren't getting open, which is true to an extent, but that was never a real problem until late last season, and all of this season. Rodgers used to be able to fit the ball into the smallest of windows, but his ball doesn't have the same zip that it used to have. I also do not think he trusts the receivers like he used to. The guys are good, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Davante Adams and Richard Rodgers are all decent, but for some reason, Rodgers is afraid to throw to them in tight windows. He looks like he'd rather take a sack or throw the ball away then take the chances he took 2 and 3 years ago.

Then there is the running game. Look, I know it is rough. Ty Montgomery has become their lead back, and he is a slot receiver, but that cannot be why they are so bad this year. Montgomery has actually looked pretty good running the ball out of the backfield. Eddie Lacy wasn't setting the world on fire, but he was capable of making the run game a threat. I feel like Montgomery is doing the same thing right now.

Rodgers won't go on a post game interview and praise the fact that a slot receiver has really stepped up in the run game for the team and is doing well, he just wants to talk bad about everyone but himself. This is the first time that I can say that I have seen Rodgers be selfish. He has always seemed like a team guy, but this interview made me very angry. I get that they are struggling right now, I watch them every Sunday, so I know, but to throw your whole team under the bus, that is cowardly. These superstar players never do this publicly either, well, at least not the real superstar players. You never see Tom Brady publicly blaming his teammates. Michael Jordan handled his business behind closed doors famously. Mike Trout hasn't come out and complained once about being on a terrible Angels team. And I do not know many hockey players, but I have never heard any stories about guys like Wayne Gretzky or Mark Messier calling out their teammates publicly. Rodgers should have handled it like those guys, namely Michael Jordan. To air stuff out for the mass media, in public, is a shameful and a me first take on your team.

I am upset, obviously. The Packers are tanking and their best player is blaming everyone but himself, even though he probably has the most problems on this team right now. This Packers season has not gone to plan, and to hear Rodgers say this stuff this morning has made it even worse. Hopefully they can turn it around, but I do not see that happening, not after these remarks from their "leader".

Are you Ready for some Fantasy Football?

Like all good fantasy games, one just needs a good roll of the dice.

Last night I attended my first of two, or possibly three, fantasy football drafts, and I'm here today to tell you the good and the bad of playing fantasy football.

I love fantasy football. It is so much fun. There is so much more good than bad while playing fantasy football. I love the drafting process. I think it is great to try and figure out who you are going to take, not in the first round, that is easy, but in the later rounds, when the pool of good fantasy players really thins out. I had a good time last night trying to figure out what third or fourth receiver, or second string running back I wanted to be on my bench in the 13th round. I really like the fact that I get to act like a GM basically. Now, I fully understand that a real GM's job is incredibly hard, and it has to be one of the most taxing things ever, but being a fantasy GM is wonderful. You get to pick the best players in football to be on your fantasy team. There is no wondering, "whose going to be my third stringer, that I will have to pay 6 figures", you get, at the very worst, back up tight ends that sit on your bench all season. It is so easy.

For example, I had the 8th overall pick last night, I took Cam Newton in the first round, but in the second round, I wanted a running back, and I had to choose between guys like Thomas Rawls, Latavius Murray, Eddie Lacy, Jamaal Charles and Matt Forte. They are all starters that will see the field a ton, so I picked Rawls. He played at Michigan for three years, and he was a beast last season, replacing Marshawn Lynch, so I pulled the trigger. It may have been a bit early, but who cares, it's fantasy football.

That's why being a fantasy GM is so much better than being a real GM. I also never have to worry about losing my job as a fantasy GM. I can take big risks, like taking QB in the first round, or drafting an unproven running back in the second round because I think he will have a good year, and I don't have to worry about an owner firing me. You know why? I'll tell you. I'm not only the GM of my fantasy team, I'm the owner too. I like this as well. Every decision is wholly mine, and mine alone. I don't have 6, 7 or 8 people telling me different things, I just have my own thought on my own picks. It's the best of both worlds. I make the decisions, and I have to live with them. For people who complain about their fantasy players, the next time you start to whine, remember, you picked these players because you are the owner and GM. You made the choice. I don't want to hear whining, unless a player gets injured.

Another thing I truly love about fantasy football, anyone can play. Fantasy football is literally a toss up. People will say that there is strategy, they are wrong. There is no strategy. This is all blind luck. Fantasy football is pretty much the same thing as picking teams in "March Madness". My wife, four or five years ago, used to laugh at me for playing this game, she called it. Now, she is the commissioner of our league. She is fully invested. She never liked football, barely watched it before she met me, but now, she is fully into fantasy football. She sits and watches Red Zone Network with me whenever one of her players has a chance to put up points for her team.

It's not just her that got heavily involved either. She has recruited friends of hers to play in our league. These friends have no interest in football, but due to my wife's blind love for the game, she has convinced them to join. She always tells them that it is fun, you need no strategy, you don't even have to draft your team, auto draft can do that and that it is oddly, but also very good, friendly competition. They have all played in our league for the last 5 years. Fantasy football is like a community of football and non football fans. That may be the best thing about it. I love fantasy football.

There is some bad as well. It can be frustrating waiting around for a live draft to end. Last night was the only live draft I do, and it took over 2 hours. I was told that was the fastest draft they have ever had. Going into minute 85 or 90, I was done, and I wanted to go home. I still have three picks to make, but it was all the waiting. The live draft is a bummer because there is no time limit in between picks. I much prefer online drafts because you can set up a time limit, ranging from 15 seconds to 1 minute. It goes so much faster. Last night, we would wait anywhere from 5 minutes to 15 minutes between each pick. It was very frustrating. Some people didn't even know when it was their turn, this also made me angry. There is also the worry of injury to a high draft pick. Anything can happen on the football field, and losing a high pick, someone you count on for a lot of points, they can go down in week one, and your team could be toast. I'm nervous that Cam Newton could get injured because I drafted him so high. Same with Thomas Rawls. But, that's life in fantasy football.

The last thing that angers me, or makes me upset, I find myself having to root for players on teams I despise. I loathe the Seahawks, but I want Thomas Rawls to succeed. That is a weird feeling. I will also find myself actively rooting against players I like on teams I like because I have players on other teams going against them. The week that I have Newton going head to head with Aaron Rodgers, the QB of my favorite team, I will root for a Green Bay win, but for it to be because of their running game or their defense, not because Rodgers had a big game. That is another curse of fantasy football. But, as I said earlier, the good outweighs the bad.

I love fantasy football, and I will continue to play it until they no longer provide the service. It is a lot of fun, and I highly recommend that everyone try it at least once in their life. My mom even tried it once, and she had a good time doing it, so anyone can have fun. Go out and be a GM and owner and enjoy a season of fantasy football. I bet you will grow to love it.

Ty Ranks the 2016 NFL Teams: Sleeping in on a Sunday Morning Edition

Then there were 8.

I'm down to the last 2 days of my countdown of the NFL. These are the good teams. They are not the best of the best, but a couple of things break their way, they could find themselves in the Super Bowl. These teams are nearly complete, and they are legit contenders. On with the countdown.

At number 8, I have the Minnesota Vikings. This team took a real big step forward last year. The offense is led by a child abuser, and all out human monster, Adrian Peterson. I know he is a very good running back, but that does not change the fact that he purposefully beat up his 4 year old and showed no remorse for it. Yes, he is good, but every time he gets hit on the field, I hope he gets injured. People who beat up children deserve the worst. At QB, I really want to like Teddy Bridgewater, and maybe this is the year he finally puts it all together. He checks down way too much, but they did draft Laquon Treadwell, who I think can be a good NFL player and he also has Kyle Rudolph at tight end. He is a machine at catching the ball. I also like Stefon Diggs, and he has a full year under his belt. Cordarelle Patterson hasn't put it together yet, and this year may be his last chance, but he can still be good. The Vikings o line is pretty decent as well. Where I think this team is underrated is their defense. They're very formidable. The defensive line is decent, anchored on each end by Danielle Hunter and Everson Griffen. The linebackers are very good, led by Chad Greenway and Anthony Barr. The secondary has very good players, namely Harrison Smith and Andrew Sandejo. They may not be the brightest names, but they are all very good players on a very good defense. Mike Zimmer has also proven to be a capable head coach. This Vikings team is getting better, and they will challenge Green Bay again. I say they finish the season 11-5.

At number 7, I have the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, first off, I cannot stand this team. They are whiny babies, they complain about everything that doesn't go their way, they are basically the LA Clippers of the NFL. But, they are good. Their QB, another piece of human garbage, is Ben Roethlisberger. When he isn't out allegedly sexually assaulting young females, he is a good to great QB. He is such a terrible person, but he is durable, plays injured and makes throws, so he gets a pass from idiots like Roger Goodell and ESPN. The running game will miss LeVeon Bell after he skipped another drug test and got suspended for four games, but a guy like D'Angelo Williams or Fitz Toussaint will pick up the slack. I know Toussaint fumbled away the playoff game last year, but he is a good enough back that he will get over it, and probably put up decent numbers until Bell gets back. Williams, while older, still runs hard and gains yards. They still have old reliable, Heath Miller at tight end, so that position is still very good. At receiver, they have the wonderful and prolific Antonio Brown. I don't care what kind of stupid hair cut he has when he makes as many catches as he does, racks up as many yards as he does and scores as many TD's as he does. Antonio Brown is awesome. And he is not the only threat. They also have Markus Wheaton, who is very good. The Steelers offense could be lethal. They also have a pretty good defense as well. Guys like James Harrison, Ryan Shazier, Alvin Dupree, William Gay, Jarvis Jones and Shamarko Thomas are all very good at their jobs. They can pressure and cover. This team, as much as it pains me to say it, could very easily make their way, and possibly win, the Super Bowl this season. But, they do have questions. Can Roethlisberger stay healthy and out of trouble? Same for Bell? will Antonio Brown be tired from carrying this team last year? And when will Mike Tomlin make another bone headed decision, because we know it's coming. I think the Steelers will be good, if everything breaks their way. I have them at 12-4.

At number 6, I have the hometown team of our head editor, the Cincinnati Bengals (ed note: Go Bengals). First off, I hope they change their name to the Harambe's, because that would be absolutely incredible. Anyway, they still have Andy Dalton at QB. This guy has to be so frustrating to watch if you are a Bengals fan. He will look great one play, then do something that only Tony Romo does on the next play. He chucks way too may passes in the air as well. He is a complete wild card. But, he does have receivers that are willing and able to try and track down those errant throws. AJ Green is a highlight reel on almost every play. His catches are almost as spectacular as Odell Beckham's. Green is one of the upper echelon receivers in the NFL. Tyler Eiffert is about as reliable as they come. The Bengals need a first down, they go to him. They need 5 yards, they go to him. they need a jump ball in the endzone, it's Eiffert or Green. They also have Brandon LaFell, who I don't think is that bad. The Bengals running game is top notch. They have two awesome backs in Giovanni Bernard and Jeremy Hill. Hill is explosive and Bernard is the bruiser, They both could start on almost any team in the NFL, but they choose to split time, and they are an exceptional duo. The Bengals defense has kind of turned into the old version of the Raiders. They are good, but they are dirty. Look no further than their playoff game last year. Yeah. Vontaez Burfict and Adam Jones are very good, but they are selfish and get way, way too many personal foul penalties. Dre Kirkpatrick is a good corner, but he plays opposite Jones, so that is a no win situation for him. Carlos Dunlap is a good linebacker, but all anyone talks about is Burfict and the penalties. Same for Ray Meauluaga. Very good, but gets overlooked. Carlos Dunlap is a good defensive end too. This Bengals team is good, but can they get out of their own way. I think this may be the last real chance that they have, and they should, at the very least, make it to the second round of the playoffs. I say the Bengals finish 11-5.

At number 5, I have my team, the Green Bay Packers. This team got absolutely ravaged with injuries last year and still almost made the NFC championship game. Aaron Rodgers is solidly in the top 3 of the best QB's playing right now. He has a great arm, runs when needed, throws into minuscule windows and puts up huge numbers. He is the engine that runs this offense. Eddie Lacy, if he loses weight and doesn't get hurt, makes the Packers run game a threat. When he is in there, and running hard, he is tough to take down, and he puts up numbers. I am an Eddie Lacy fan, but he has to show me a good, full season. I do like James Starks as his backup though. He is tall, finds holes and gashes teams for big, big runs. At receiver, this is where is gets dicey. If Jordy Nelson comes back fully recovered, than at least the Packers have one elite wideout. Nelson is very good and they missed him a whole lot more than I though they would last year. Randall Cobb is also very good, but he gets hurt way too much on returns, and he takes a beating going over the middle. He is small, but he plays big. After those guys, it's thin. I do like Richard Rodgers at tight end, but the fact that they are trying out Kellen Winslow Jr tells me they don't have a lot of faith in him. The Packers o line is the weak point of the offense. /they don't protect that well, and they open up very few lanes. They need work. The defense is good, but I feel like it can be better. When you have guys like Julius Peppers, Clay Matthews, Jake Ryan, Mike Daniels, Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix and Sam Shields, you should be better than middle of the pack. They give up big plays way too often. I also want Peppers and Matthews to talk to the guys that accused them of PED's, so they can clear their names. The bottom line, as long as Aaron Rodgers is the QB, this team will be competitive. I see a better year from Lacy and having Nelson back will really help out. I also think the defense will, and should, play a lot better. I think the Packers reclaim their stop at the top of the division and they win 12 games doing that.
